Brilliant !!!!!! 24 Oct 2007
Format:Audio CD
Okay, Nick Barretts vocals might not be up to scratch, but who cares when you encounter such a beautifully produced and written album. It is simply stunning. If you're a fan of progressive rock, then "The Masquerade Overture" is a definite must-have for any collection.

Stratospheric 1 July 2008
By R. W.
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are few albums that make you stand up in front of your speakers and conduct but this is one of them.

The music in this is so engorssing to listen to, and when you try to play along with it it makes you feel like a guitar legend no matter what your actual ability is.

Mr N. Barrett must have taken a few lessons from Mr D. Gilmour over the years but he's really taken that strat into the stratorphere (My Les Paul doesn't go that high).

Beautiful stuff.

Regarding the vocals, I really believe (and there's another album) that the vocals fit the music really well and it's hard to imagine anyone else getting the same meaning out of the fairly abstract lyrics.

And just to end it all, a solo that easily competes with Comfortably Numb.

A great find. 12 Jan 2010
Format:Audio CD
This is the first Pendragon album that I bought recently, after reading plenty of positive reviews of the band. I find the album to be a thoughtful piece of music with some powerful and moving sections. One or two moments are reminiscent of Pink Floyd. So if you like David Gilmour's soaring guitar work then you'll really enjoy this album. I highly recommend it.
