This is a great album by the American goth band The Wake. I was looking to buy this 'difficult to get hold of' CD for a while. I was very pleased with my purchase. It was only through Amazon that I was able to get it. Took 2 weeks to get here from USA but well worth the wait.

HASH(0x9795378c) out of 5 stars A great CD by a Hard to find band 8 Jan. 2000
By Marco Marino - Published on Amazon.com

If you like high intensity dark Goth/Rock that sends a chill down your spine, you will love this CD. The Wake's music is not easy to come by nor are they known outside of the Goth world, but thats what makes them so great. I highly recommend this CD to anyone that likes the Sisters of Mercy. Buy it!

HASH(0x979537e0) out of 5 stars The sound I was looking for in a Goth band 2 Feb. 2008
By Ghost of Odin's Court - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
After so many years of searching for a band that had the type of, for lack of a better term, Gothic sound that I always wanted to hear, I found them in this underground, nearly forgotten gem. From the carnival whirlwind of "Sideshow" to the haunting wail of "Silent Siren" to the bare-knuckled attitude of "Harlot", these guys deliver in spades. Being both Goth and old fashioned Rock and Roll makes them a far different band than the Sisters of Mercy, who they are often compared to. While the Sisters are great, The Wake is a different beast altogether. Using guitar atmospherics to their fullest potential, each song has enough meat to it to stand on it's own, and yet the whole album is by far an easy listen from beginning to end. Rest assured, this CD will get stuck to you for quite a long time.

HASH(0x98b2ae04) out of 5 stars Top-notch trad Goth & a good album regardless of subculture/genre 1 Mar. 2014
By Rais3dByWolv3s - Published on Amazon.com
A lot of the obscure goth bands are obscure for a reason.

These guys are a cut above the rest.

I'm not sure what happened with them. Maybe they kind of suffered from the non-popularity of the overall genre and the takeover of the electronic stuff. (Not that I'm slamming EBM/gothic-industrial -- some of it is great.)

Standout tracks for me are "Locomotive Age" and "Nazarene."

Highly recommended.
HASH(0x97c5c504) out of 5 stars The follow-up to First and Last and Always?! 11 April 2014
By M. Guerra - Published on Amazon.com
The sound is so similar to early Sisters of Mercy it's actually scary. And, if you were to tell me all vocals were performed by Andrew Eldritch under a different name I would not be surprised. Although, this stuff is lacking in originality it is still done masterfully. I highly recommend if you like The Sisters/Mission and Fields of the Nephilim..
