Book Description

He hides from the world…but he can’t hide from her.

Men of the White Sandy, Book 2

Moving her veterinary practice out west is a chance for Mary-Beth to start over. But her resolve to learn to hold her tongue goes out the window when she meets Jacob, a Lakota cowboy who says next to nothing—especially about the black leather mask covering half his face.

Sometimes he seems to be almost flirting. Other times, it’s as if he’s angry she exists. But there’s no mistaking the heat that flares between them.

Jacob still isn’t sure who—or what—carved up his face and killed his best friend three years ago. All he knows is the thing was after a child he now hides with his silence. A medicine woman’s granddaughter he would die to protect.

Outspoken, sexy Mary Beth reminds him of how lonely his life has become. But he can’t forget how much he stands to lose if any distraction allows a monster to rise again and destroy the last hope of his people.

Warning: This book contains a masked cowboy with a lot to hide, a woman who shoots her mouth off at all the wrong times, and the wanton destruction of a certain pair of panties during explosive sex.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second book a success. 9 April 2015

This the second book in a series by Sarah M. Anderson. I really enjoyed it. Reading about white woman coming to a place where they can help people, to also learn about them selves and find love.
This is a romance set in the Lakota reservation of SD. Names have been changed but if you're familiar with the state you can figure it out.
Jacob is an Indian who has left his people, is trying to hide and keep his young charge safe.
Mary Beth is looking for somewhere to belong, and she finds it with a young girl and a masked man.
But there is a dangerous mystery floating nearby.
If you like contemporary western romance with mystery, read this book and series, I highly recommend it.

This story is part of a series that involves white women who make a difference to the Indian that they seek as a soul mate. Not everyone that falls in love , falls in love willing to admit it . Some take their responsibility so serious that love has be take a back seat until its' power takes over. This is a compelling love story that I was anxious to read (as it is in a series), and found hard to put down.

This second book wraps up a loose thread from the first that is tied to the hero in a big way.

Jacob walk in on the murder of his friends which left his face disfigured. He wears a mask that covers his nose and half his face. He has been hiding the albino young daughter of those friends for fear the killer will come after her based on the legend about her having powers from her grandmother that someone wants to possess by killing her.

Mary Beth moved to the Lakota reservation to start over and also to take over as the town's veterinarian. One of the biggest clients of the clinic is a ranch where Jacob is the foreman over the animals. She doesn't know what to make of this mysterious man who hides his face from the world. His constant blowing of hot and cold towards her leaves her even more confused.

The two bond when the horses come down with a strange disease and over the girl he is hiding from everyone. As with the first book the authors gives us as readers another close look at the Lakota tribe and in the case of this book the horses and cattle taken care of by the Lakota's.

Jacob doesn't know for sure what attacked him and killed his friend was a spirit, beast or man and refuses to get to close to Mary Beth even though he is very attracted to her and longs for normal life but how can he have that with all the outer scars he carries and the threat.

This one has quite the explosive ending that leaves you wondering how these two can ever find a HEA.

I didn't love this story as much as I did the first one in the series but I still thought it was outstanding. Hunky scarred hero, tough woman.
