For reasons I can easily explain, Masala Wedding is a read I found impossible to put down;
The characters and plot enthralled me, I immediately got comfy with the main players and what they were up to, I was lulled into thinking I knew what was going to happen only to find myself outwitted by Sonny's clever writing. It's no Dan Brown novel but in many similar ways I was educated (not lectured) about the subject (punjabi culture), excited to turn the next page and twisted every which way on my journey following Kam and his mates through his path to ultimately get what he deserved. The author's use of strong characters converging on the timebomb that is a wedding is scintilating, surely I'd work out how it was all to end, no chance!
I tend to go for books on WH Smith's best seller's shelf as I am so easily disappointed with anything mediocre, I have numerous reputable novels collecting dust with only a few pages read; I am delighted to report that Masala Wedding is not one of them and I heartily recommend it to anyone and everyone.

PS. If Ranj is based on a real person, he's a guy I'd like to meet.

If you're looking for something different..with a bit of flava..then this is the book for you. It has excitement, danger and laughter all rolled into this roller coaster of a read. There is also a great connection with the characters which leaves you wanting to know more about them and where their lives will take them. I can't recommend this enough..so different, yet so easy to relate to.
