Practically perfect in every way.
The Sherman Brothers who composed the music to 'Mary Poppins' created a musical masterpiece. I had owned a previously released 'Mary Poppins' CD which contained all the main songs but omitted the instrumental music. Thankfully, this special edition version was released containing seemingly all the music that was in the feature film.
The wonderfully sad and mellow instrumental track, 'Mr. Banks is Discharged' is 4:45 minutes in length and is a joy to listen to. With soft, light instruments following on to a deep loud bass sound. The music has a mix of fast and slow tempos, an uneasy, uncertain path;echoing perfectly the trip Mr. Banks took in the film to the bank.
As a bonus there are all sorts of storyboard audio clips with P.L. Travers - the author of 'Mary Poppins', speaking with the Sherman Brothers along with Don DiGradi, which gives an insight into the construction of the feature film. The Sherman Brothers also reminisce in a 16 minute audio track about working on 'Mary Poppins'. Also, there is an interview lasting 17 minutes with Julie Andrews, Robert B Sherman, Richard M Sherman, Dick Van Dyke and Irwin Kostal.
'The Life I Lead', 'A Spoonful Of Sugar', 'Jolly Holiday', 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious', 'I Love To Laugh', 'A British Bank' and 'A Man Has Dreams (The Life I Lead - A Spoonful of Sugar) are all here.
Highly recommended for fans of 'Mary Poppins' and people who enjoy soundtracks.
