Product Description
Somebody is murdering Hollywood's A list. FBI agent Alex Cross is on vacation in Disneyland when he gets the call. A well-known actress has been shot outside her home in Beverly Hills. Shortly afterwards, an editor for the Los Angeles Times receives an e-mail recounting the murder in shocking detail, signed Mary Smith. Her calling card More killings follow, with emails immediately after. Mary Smith is targeting Hollywood stars and powerbrokers, and she is getting better every time. Right from the beginning, this case is like nothing Alex has ever confronted. People make enemies easily in Hollywood. Is this the plan of an obsessed fan or a spurned actor, or is it part of something much more terrifying? 'You've got mail' Members of the A-list fear they're Mary's next target, and the case grows into blockbuster proportions as Cross and the LAPD scramble to find a pattern before Mary can send one more chilling update.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, 4 Nov 2005
Unlike some, I never tire of James Patterson. Whilst I agree some of his novels are not at his usual exceptional high standard, Mary Mary certainly had me gripped. How can people say Alex Cross should be retired when he can star in a stunning story like this. His relationships seem to get more interesting to me, not the other way around. I had to get up at 5 one morning to finish this before I went to work, it is THAT good. I can't wait for the next instalment Mr Patterson............

4.0 out of 5 stars Good entertainment, very enjoyable, 9 Feb 2006
By Avid Reader "meta" (ontario, canada) - See all my reviews
This is Patterson's latest and is maybe the best Alex Cross story yet. I was absorbed to the last page and the intriguing way the mystery is solved. Cross’s love interest does a lot to further develop his character, which I found refreshing. Mary Mary is well written with short (which could be disruptive to some readers), but focused chapters, and a must read. Also recommended: Bruce Huntly, Fusion (a new and highly recommended find showcasing sound science relevant to current technological and energy concerns); Dean Koontz: Forever Odd; Michael Crichton: State of Fear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Patterson is back on track!, 8 Oct 2005
The last two Alex Cross books were so disappointing that I almost did not even give this book a try. London Bridges was so poorly contrived and the pace so rapid with the short chapters it felt as if it had been written over a long weekend. Happily with Mary Mary Patterson is back on track! this book is well paced with all the unexpected twists and turns expected in an Alex Cross novel. Hooray! I dont normally recomend other books but you should check out the thriller hit "A Tourist in the Yucatan" WOW!

I'd not read any of the "Alex Cross" books until this one. Reviewing books is a chancy thing. All I can give is my opinion. As with all art taste differs widely. Read more
