""... its deep value lies in its enhancement of rich mathematical concepts and its connections between mathematics and science. It is highly recommended."" -Mathematics Teacher, May 2008
""Published by A K Peters Ltd., Marvelous Modular Origami offers step-by-step instructions for more than 30 different modular origami structures. By the end of the year, the book was a bestseller."" -The Mercury News , May 2008
""Meenakshi Mukerji takes the ancient Japanese art form of origami —or paper folding— far beyond the making of simple paper cranes."" -Cupertino COURIER, May 2008
""The book is intended for intermediate but beginners are also encouraged to try."" -European Mathematical Society, March 2008
so many ways, origami is the perfect activity for young children. Using only simple movements that even young ones can master at a high enough level, students can create beautiful things. The pot is made even sweeter by the fact that the cost of the raw materials is so low. By practicing first using printer paper, the students can hone their skills before moving on to the development of the finished product. This book contains some of the best and most functional origami patterns ever developed. The end results are spectacular and the directions are very easy to follow. I am on good terms with the education department at Mount Mercy College and will be showing them this book when classes start this fall. -Charles Ashbacher, Journal of Recreational Mathematics , March 2008
the help of this book, interested teachers and lecturers can learn to fold and put together beautiful symmetrical solids. The folding tasks will enrich geometry teaching and create interesting learning environments at secondary school level."" -Zentralblatt MATH, January 2009
""This book would be valuable to those who enjoy origami and want to try new folding methods and constructions. The directions, accompanied by quality illustrations, are easy to follow. This would be an excellent reference for members of a mathematics club who are looking for projects."" -Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School, November 2008

5.0 out of 5 stars Mad for modulars! 7 Jun 2007
By Kathryn S. March - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Meenakshi's web-site has been a hot spot for those of us who are hooked on making these intracate decorative balls for years and her new book does not disappoint! Very clear diagrams, helpful directions, multiple ways of forming the units to make different flowers appear, and the vast majority are not recycled from other books. For the bored begginer in origami on up!

Warning! This is an addictive hobby. Fortunately tiny sheets of square paper are inexpensive.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous Modular Models! 3 Mar 2010
By Joy Dutta - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I got this book after browsing through the author's well-known website for modular origami. It's a very nice book explaining how to make great looking modular balls. The diagrams are very clear and well described with pictures showing how the modular unit should look like in each step. Being just over an year old in the origami world, I got stumped a couple of times but seeing the diagram of the next step helped me figure out the fold. All I needed was a little bit of practice and a bit more patience. For beginners like me, it's a good practice to make one unit using a printer paper and understand all the steps. Also, I recommend reading the 'Homogeneous Color Tiling' section of the book if one is using multiple colors for making a model.

I believe even a beginner, after getting a bit familiar with the basic origami diagrams, can fold the models in the book as there are no complex folds involved. I highly recommend this book. And if you are into polyhedra and floral models, it is a must.

2.0 out of 5 stars final assembly directions are awful 15 Dec 2012
By Sam - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Models are attractive, but it's very frustrating to make 30 modular units only to find that the directions for assembling them into the finished product are summarized in a **single,** poorly-explained image which can be seen at amazon-dot-com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/1568813163/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_dav This book might be an OK purchase for someone who already has experience with origami platonic solids composed of more than a few units, but I recommend that someone with limited modular experience **borrow** this book from a library, read a model's directions from start to finish and see if (s)he can find help on the internet or from another folder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book! 9 Nov 2007
By S. Basu - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Meenakshi has done a great job of explaining in a step-by-step manner how to create many simple to not-so-simple figures in Origami. Being a complete beginner, it has greatly helped me. I am sure the more advanced users will get much more from this book.
