Captain America can use his Vibranium-alloy shield to strike multiple enemies
You wouldn't like me when I'm angry--harness The Hulk's phenomenal power
Use Irons Man's concussive blasts to vanquish foes

The Marvel Universe is being torn apart. You and your team of Marvel Super Heroes help Nick Fury launch a secret pre-emptive strike against Latveria and Lucia Von Bardas only to have to thwart her retaliatory attack on New York City.

Coupled with other Super Hero incidents, public sentiment turns against Super Heroes. The Superhuman Registration Act becomes law and Super Heroes must register as weapons of mass destruction, becoming licensed government agents. As Civil War is stirred, Iron Man leads the Pro-Registration side while Captain America spearheads the stand on Anti-Registration. The enemies you battle and the missions you accomplish depend on which side you choose.

The highly anticipated sequel to 2006’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance--heralded as the best Marvel Super Hero game of all time, and selling more than 4 million units worldwide--is finally here with Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. Inspired by the acclaimed Marvel Civil War storyline, this action-RPG delivers once again on a colossal cast of characters, thrilling gameplay and impassioned alliances. This next-gen gaming experience leaves the fate of the Marvel Universe--and humankind--in your hands. Lines are drawn. Sides are chosen. And the ultimate question remains: Whose side are you on?

5.0 out of 5 stars Five stars because I love these games and this is best one yet., 25 Sep 2009
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
For many people the big releases are Halo and COD modern warfare 2, not for me, this is what I have been waiting for. For the uninitiated it is a top down viewed action heavy rpg with a wealth of characters to play with a team of four on screen at once.
Sort of a progression on from Baldurs gate dark alliance and the like. X-men legends introduced the four character part, which has carried into the marvel ultimate alliance games. In one player mode you can control any one of the four at the flick of a button and the rest follow your lead, other players can jump in and out of the action, which while fun can get a little muddled.
The gameplay is pretty simple, like most truly great games it is easy to pick up and bash away at. It will not appeal to everyone but for those sick of first person blasters and jap rpgs this is a welcome breath of fresh air. The visuals are sharper than in previous games, although it is clearly still no gears of war beater.
The soundtrack is pretty good but half the time you will be so engrossed in the action you won't really notice it. The voice acting is varied and the script for that matter. The likes of wolverine spiderman and deadpool come of really well where as captain america sounds like a bad radio dj and others just sound like gruff stereotypes, oh and Mr fantastic sounds like a pompus whiny git. still a minor gripe.

The plot covers the secret war and civil war stories from the marvel comics over the last few years. The civil war takes centre stage here, basically the heroes get divided after they are told to register and become government employee's giving up thier secret identities and such like. Basically its an excuse to pit hero versus hero for big action fun.

Overall, five stars if like me you are a fan of these games and possibily three of four for non fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's quite fun, but lacks something., 4 Oct 2009

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Whilst dismayed about the whole problem with unlocking Juggernaut(thanks activision), this game is actually very fun. I finished this game on hard mode the day after release. About 13 hours of playing it. Maybe a little bit more. Not only that, but you can pick up discs like the first MUA which are mini games. For those that haven't played the first, getting an amounts of points on these discs will grant you bonusses. Some of these are very hard to get top points. Note that Deadpool is very good for the survival disc. In fact, he's one of the best characters and I managed to defeat some bosses with him alone, which was rather amusing. So lets get to some of the unlockable characters briefly explained.

The Hulk - He's as you'd expect, huge. One of his skills which is repeatedly smashing the ground doesn't seem to use any energy and really makes your fusion bar shoot up. He can pick up enemies and not only throw them, but hit other enemies with them, which I find to be great. However. The Thing can also do this, but he's not as cool as The Hulk.
Songbird - She has some very powerful skills which will easily kill some stronger enemies. These skills seem much stronger than any other character I've played at the moment. A flaw with her appears to be that she can die easily, so probably not the best for melee.
Venom - At first sight, you'd think he'd have some amazing skills, and he might be quite good, but I've found him to be pretty useless so far.
Deadpool - One character you will most likely have in your team. He can teleport, making him harder to hit. He attacks very fast. Has health regeneration(like wolverine) and has some cool fusions. Try him with storm, iceman, or the human torch. There are some others which I can't remember. One of his little flaws is his shooting. This is a very short duration and pretty tough to hit a single enemy accurately. It will more than likely be a waste of energy.
Thor - This guy is also very good. The silly thing with this character is that he can single-handedly defeat the last boss as he's immune to the skill that is most commonly used. He isn't immune to the AOE attack which sends out multiple rings, but these can be dodged and aren't really a problem. He also has some other cool, melee attacks and one where he fires lightning at foes. He can fly as well.
Penance - I've not had much experience with this guy just yet, but he does seem decent. He has some knockback effect, can call down multiple missiles, or whatever it is and do some other things.
Nick Fury - Yes. You can play as him. Like Penance, I've not had much experience with him, but he seems ok. Not the Nick Fury you know, though. Sort of.

I'm yet to play Jean Grey and the Green goblin. Goblin is unlocked, but have not played him.

So for the fun aspect, it's a 5, but for overall a 4. The codes should have really been sorted out properly. There are some bugs in this game. I had to go from a checkpoint to do one boss again as he was stuck doing some sort of whirlwind which would just kill my team. There was another boss that got stuck, but proved to be useful for a few moments until he woke up. I feel there is something missing from this game. It really needed more characters. I liked playing Elektra in the first. I also liked Blade. This lacks them and many more. You could have replaced Dare Devil with one of them as he's a very bland character. Some of the cinematics didn't seem in sync either. No biggy, but they just appeared to be like muppets half of the time. A type of fusion that was kind of boring - the one where two run around and hit things.
