5.0 out of 5 stars Great value for a great title 27 Sep 2012
By Bryan VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This Marvel pocket book featuring the Silver Surfer, Sky-rider of the Spaceways, is worth every penny. It collects together the first five issues of the comic magazine first published in the far distant past and brings the Surfer into battles with Mephisto, the Badoon,Thor and the Stranger. Beautifully produced in colour and a handy pocket book size, this book is well worth the 3.99 price tag and is destined to become a collector's item in the years ahead. There are a number of other Marvel titles available in this series including the X-Men, Hulk, Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four and would build into a perfect library series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Silver Surfer - Origins 26 Aug 2012
By S Riaz HALL OF FAME TOP 10 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
These Marvel Pocketbooks are great value for money and really well produced. My eight year old son is a great lover of comic books and really enjoyed this paperback sized book which includes many of his adventures. There are five original comics included in this collection: The Origin of the Silver Surfer, When Lands the Saucer, The Power and the Prize, The Good, the Bad and the Uncanny and And Who Shall Mourn Him. The material was published before in magazine form as The Silver Surfer Vol 1 -5 and, obviously, having the collection in a small book does reduce the artwork and the print. So, if you find it hard to read small print that may be a concern, although it did not seem to bother my son at all. There are many other titles in the series, featuring The Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spiderman and The Incredible Hulk. At such a low price they would make an ideal stocking filler, especially as they contain the original artwork and stories. Great buys and highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars great stuff 20 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
These Marvel Pocket books are a terrific idea.

I'm a huge fan of the Silver Surfer but the original comics are so rare, precious and expensive that you can't exactly risk reading them in the bath! Even the reprints, like Marvel Masterworks and Marvel Omnibus tend to be a bit on the pricey side.

At last! Marvel Pocket books bring us silver age classics that are so inexpensive that you can read them in comfort without the constant fear of ripping a page or creasing a cover.

This edition cover the first 5 issues of the first Silver Surfer series from 1968 - including the Surfer's origin. 5 of the greatest comic stories ever drawn. 'Nuff Said.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvel Pocket Books- Silver Surfer: Origins 2 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback
This book collects the first five silver surfer comics. If you have read the fantastic four pocket books (The Coming of Galactus and Doomsday) then you might want to buy this book, because it carries on the silver surfer's story from then. The variaty of stories in the book are sure to interest nearly every comic book reader.
