At only one third the price of comparable ring flashes I was a little doubtful , but was pleasantly surprised , it does just what it should, fits straight on to my Canon 450D and of course gives very even illumination . I found it best to use manual msettings , at life size or nearly so with EFS 60 mm Macro lens I used f 11 and 1/200 sec for excellent results at 100 ASA . - jiggle the aperture up or down if the subject is very light or dark . One small note of warning , - the on/off switch is small and if you put the flash away with it switched on (as I did ) you have flattened 4 AA batteries. Ted Foster

At such a low price I wasn't expecting too much from the Marumi Ring Flash, but I've been very pleasantly surprised! Coming with various ring adaptors to fit to most standard lenses it's very quick and easy to fit. I've used it mainly with the Canon MPE65mm and Tokina 90MM lenses and the results are very impressive. The flash works very well at both extremes giving a warm, evenly balanced exposure to all images. I would highly recommend the Marumi Ring Flash!

The results you can get with this flash are amazing. However there is no way of varying the amount of light this unit puts out. This limits the flexibility of the unit and certainly with macro photography you will find yourself using very high fstops with at iso 100 film speeds. I would have loved to have been able to dial down the flash by an fstop or two.

However, at this price the photos are amazing considering the price of the unit. Sure you can get better ones, at three times the price for a little more flexibility.
