1.0 out of 5 stars That's it?! 26 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
Even with padding and waffle, the publishers could only make the book stretch to 36 pages. Save your money, read the Wikipedia entry and then read about Gandhi.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Collection 6 Jan 2011
By All, Here, Now - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is by far the most comprehensive collection I known of and I have a lot of speeches. My other collections are a compositions of 5 minute soundbites totaling around 40 minutes while this collection is the real deal with speeches in their entirety. And that is no small accomplishment for some of these speeches. Some of his most popular speeches are only known in small excerpts but once a listens hear the whole speech, it totally boogles the mind. Priceless and Timeless. No other collection comes close.

When looking for recordings of MLK this was the only extensive audio collection i could find. Frustrated with the lack of info of this set(namely track listings) i purchased it regardless, due to no other option.
It is not awful by any means, but one can tell that there wasn't much thought given when putting all this together. this is why i took away a star, from the 5-star content.

the pro's:
- MLK sermons and speeches are a blessing
- the introductions are nice, a lot more than i expected.

the con's:
-There is no track listing booklet, or written on the back of the cases. The only listing is on each CD. So when i want to listen to a particular sermon i have to search through the 15 cds.
-Someone decided to split up his speeches in multiple tracks. I dislike this choice, for i like to listen to them whole. it can be convenient to find where ya left off though, rather than fast forwarding.
-wish there was more of his sermons available, yet i understand this set is a "best of".

regardless of the poor design, get this collection!! the greatness of MLK's speeches are worth it. (unless of course a better collection comes out)

5.0 out of 5 stars Offering for the first time over twenty original recordings from his speeches and sermons 18 Mar 2010
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Martin Luther King Jr.: Essential Box Set collects all the key speeches and sermons of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., offering for the first time over twenty original recordings from his speeches and sermons. Each is accompanied by an introduction by other famous theologians and civil right leaders, making this a powerful pairing of firsthand testimony and King's own, powerful words. Any collection strong in civil rights history MUST have this!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Collection 18 Jan 2011
By GM20 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
A moving and power collection of his speeches...Places you right there in the front row. You feel like a foot soldier in the struggle. Its a must have!

My only issue is I haven't been able to skip or select individual speeches. They seem to have no chapter markings, so you can't select specific speechs. I'm listening on I-tunes...and have yet to figure this out.
