Having been a big Wets fan since their first single, I was perhaps a little sceptical of this album, especially as whilst Marti Pellow was present, the fellow band members are not. However, for most, Marti is what people remember of this great Scottish band and for that reason the album does not disappoint.
I found most of the reworkings of classic Wets songs like Sweet Surrender and Temptation very refreshing and seeing as some of the songs are nearly 16 years old, it was good to hear them updated a little. It is also evident how much Pellow's voice has matured in this time and he is undoubtibly one of the UK's finest talents.
For the avid fan, the arrangements of many of the songs are similar to the live performances given by the band with vocal arrangements and instrumentals like the live shows. This brings back many happy memories.
The album does have some bloopers namely Love is All Around and some of the songs from Pellow's solo album which do not sound like they have been reworked much at all.
Overall, it's a good, mellow, chilled-out album with some great songs on. The fact that Tom, Graeme, Neil and Graeme, the other members of Wet Wet Wet are not present does not detract from the album. It is a good greatest hits compilation updated for now from a great band which Marti Pellow gives credit and thanks to.

As a fan of Wet Wet Wet, I was initially disappointed at my first listening of this album - purely because I was expecting the original recordings of the songs. HOWEVER!, on second viewing I noticed the richness and maturity of Marti's voice - the way he held his notes longer - simply amazing. I listen to it daily and when I am out with my portable, I often get people moving closer to me to hear more! If you are after a mellow/romantic/chill-out/inspiring/sentimental/uplifting CD - this is the one! If you were ever a fan of wet wet wet - buy this..it's simply GREAT!

The title of this album certainly had me worried but I needn't have. Its a spectacular display of Marti Pellow singing at his very best. Many of the songs are classics some are very poor musically but what always wins through is the amazing singing abilities of this man. Marti has to be amongst the very best vocalists that have ever performed. His power and range are second to none, however he is often over looked because the songs that he sings tend to be on the wrong side of dull but when you listen to him singing "with a little help from my friends", "yesterday" and "love is all around" you see that his talent is for singing not for song writing. If you haven't bought a Marti Pellow album before or your a die hard fan of the WETS go out and buy this album. Be prepared to be blown away by the singing not the songs though.

This man has done what many thought was impossible, he has made Wet Wet Wet songs better! Credit has to be given for his recording of Sweet Little Mystery is fantastic and has everything that the orginal needed, more bass and more noise! Buy this if your a fan of Wet Wet Wet or Marti himself as you won't regret it!

Okay, let me just get this straight before I start. This is NOT a wet, wet, wet album. It does state to be a wet, wet, wet album and anyone who thinks so by looking at the album cover ... well, quite frankly mite need their eyes tested. This a MARTI PELLOW album. It has him on the cover, not all of the boys. Marti Pellow sings Wet, Wet, Wet. And boy, does he! Obviously being the lead singer in the group his vocals feature quite promiently on all the old tracks but this is something else. And I like it.
I was a little too young to 'get' wet, wet, wet. I liked them. I even LOVED 'Goodnight Girl'. And I LOVE this album. I LOVE it. I love Marti's deep vocals, showing he's in his prime. Those expecting the same songs, sung the same way will be disappointed. True. But those expecting something different, a little older, a little deeper ... this is the album for you.
It has all the old favourites, with new twists that you can enjoy all over again!
This is an album to celebrate Marti's vocal talents. He is more than wet, wet, wet. But he will always be the wee Clydebank boy in many of our hearts.

Missing out on Wet Wet Wet albums but always being a fan of the singles, I saw this album advertised and had to rush out and buy it. Firstly this isn't a Wet Wet Wet greatest hits album which I mistook it for.
The new version of "Love is all around" is the real disappointment. 9 yrs on and it is still a favourite of mine but the newer version just doesn't have the charm of the original. As does the new version of "If I never see you again". The new recordings have a much more simplier sound which really doesn't work with these songs.
All the negatives aside - "Angel Eyes" and "Julia says" are classics and Wet Wet Wet's song writing is at its best and Marti Pellows vocals get better and better. Uptempo "Sweet little Mystery" still remains as one of my favourites and is a joy and Marti's commentary on the CD inlay of going about the re-recording of the tracks are a bonus.
If you are a fan this is a great buy. If like me you were looking for a greatest hits album you may be disappointed.
