5.0 out of 5 stars COOKIE HEAVEN 30 Jun 2011
By Eleni TOP 100 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
This is a fantastic book about cookies; it has recipes for all kinds of cookies and they are all amazing. The book is divided into seven sections, providing cookie recipes for every taste, so everyone can find their favorite kind of cookie, or discover a new delight.

The first section, "Light and Delicate", provides recipes for the most delicious light cookies, meringues, tuiles, and palmiers. The second section "Soft and Chewy", provides recipes for a wonderful selection of old fashioned oatmeal cookies, macaroons, chocolate chips cookies, and fruit bars, including the great "Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies" of the cover. The third section "Crumbly and Sandy", has lovely recipes for a variation of biscuits, shortbreads, and biscotti. The forth section "Chunky and Nutty" provides recipes for cookies and bars with all kinds of nuts. The fifth section "Cakey and Tender", has the most amazing recipes for madeleines, bars, blondies and my personal favorite; the marshmallow filled "Surprise Cookies". The sixth section "Crisp and Crunchy", has excellent recipes for crispy cookies with original and inspiring shapes for every mood and every occasion. Last but not least, is the most indulgent section of the book; "Rich and Dense", with sinful brownies, luxurious truffles and fantastic blondies, not to mention the excellent recipe for "Sarah Bernhard Cookies". Each section has a brief introduction and the recipes are very well written and easy to read, accompanied by very nice photographs.

The book also includes a very helpful chapter on "Tools and Techniques", with useful detailed information about the basic ingredients for cookies, the tools we can use for better results, and excellent step by step instructions for making great cookies.

In addition, the recipes are followed by a fantastic chapter on "Packaging and Giving" with lovely, original and inspiring ideas for the most beautiful packages. So after you bake your favorite cookies, provided you can resist the temptation to eat them all, you can create lovely homemade gifts for friends and family.

In total, a great cookie cookbook with Martha Stewart's homemade and creative philosophy.

Happy Baking!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great selections of biscuits 1 Sep 2011
By julvsm
Format:Paperback
I highly recommend this book. There is a wide selection of recipes, plenty of photos and very successful and quick results. I was very pleased with the purchase and its one of the books that I use regularly. The lemon squares are a big success (you must love lemons though). I have tried many recipes, and I did not have a real failure so far. Some I like less than others but its due to my taste preferences rather than recipes themselves. I dont have a problem using cups and tablespoons after spending few years in Canada but it may be annoying. There are plenty of recipes that suggest to shape them one way or the other but you can always use a shortcut and form a small round ball. It works fine for me.
