More About the Author

As food writer and food stylist, I get to cook and eat for a living. What a treat for a greedy girl......

I had my first book, STEW!, published in Feb 2011, and this has been followed by SOUP!, MARSHMALLOW MAGIC, A GOOD EGG, BEAN FEASTS & most recently PIE! I am published by Transworld/Random House and by Absolute Press/Bloomsbury.

I have just started writing my next book, EATING OUT - a bible full of fresh air feasts, taking you through picnics & barbecues to hiking food for a mountainside, or a woodland bonfire feast and towards to the beach for camping banquet. I have until the autumn to finish, and it will hit the shelves late spring/early summer 2015.

As food stylist I'm lucky enough to work with many great creative brands and companies, including Masterchef and Aardman Animations, and I love this work almost as much as writing books. For more info on my work, have a look at my rather sporadic blog at or better still my website

I had a few turns on TV last year, filming with Paul Hollywood, Jay Rayner of The One Show, and Lynda Bellingham. To my surprise I loved it and am currently working with a couple of TV companies to develop some ideas for TV shows. Find me on YouTube at:

I am also a mum to 2 boisterous young kids (who are rather irritatingly fussy in their eating habits) and owner of a whole host of rescued pets, currently two dogs, two cats & several chickens. Life is neither quiet nor simple, but that's just the way I like it. In my spare time I love to garden and am currently trying to make my urban Bristol garden as wildlife friendly as possible. I also enjoy pottering about charity shops gathering props for my food styling / photography work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous book with brilliant recipes 25 Oct 2012
By Louise
I bought this book to have a go at marshmallow-making with my kids, but now I've seen all the 'grown-up' recipes I can't wait to try them out too. The almond biscuit bars and mojito marshmallows look delicious and I'm really surprised by how easy it is to make the basic marshmallow mixture. Lots of great ideas for dinner party treats!

5.0 out of 5 stars It worked! 21 Nov 2012
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I have bought 3 marshmallows books(I'm a cookbook addict) after seeing 'Marshmallow Madness' on Bakerella's blog. This is the only recipe I've been able to get to work, probably because the other 2 books are american so maybe the gelatin quantities don't translate properly. I tried the Vanilla recipe from this book with the attitude, if it doesn't work this time, I give up, but it worked first time. So now I'm hooked.

The recipe was easy to follow providing you have a sugar thermometer and the results are fantastic, the marshmallows taste delicious, so so much better than shop bought. Definitely recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yummy, scrummy marshmallows 13 Dec 2012
A beautifully presented recipe book that is easy to follow & the marshmallows are delicious. Hunted out the book after watching Genevieve on Travels with Linda Bellingham. You actually get to see them make these marshmallows. Would make a great addition to any kitchen & is a lovely inexpensive present for Xmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great little find 7 Nov 2012
By Claire
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I ordered this lovely little book after watching Genevieve make marshmallows on the television; she made it look very easy and I thought if it was as straightforward as she made it seem then I could make them for Christmas gifts. My first attempt (classsic vanilla) was a great success: the instructions were easy to follow and the end product delicious and enthusiastically received by my taste testers! I am looking forward to trying some of the flavour combinations next which sound very tempting and look very inviting in the photos. You do need a free standing kitchen mixer and I would definitely recommend a sugar thermometer but with both those to hand you will triumph with Marshmallow Magic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yum! 10 April 2013

Format:Kindle Edition
Great book with a wonderful range of interpretations of the subject. Helpfully written as a Uk book rather than all the American measurements and Ingredients. I am now obsessed with marshmallows, these taste fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very tempting 21 Jun 2014
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Marshmallows are one of the latest sweet 'trends' with several people making 'designer' marshmallows. This book has all the necessary instructions and inspirational recipes to make your own at a fraction of the cost of ready made marshmallows - and it is very easy to do this. The ones I have made so far have been very well received.
