Product Description

Product Description

Product description from the manufacturer

Seramis clay granules are made of small, light, porous granules with high water retention qualities. The fine pores absorb moisture, retain it and release it again when needed. So your plants take exactly what they need. Seramis clay granules are structurally stable and do not compact. So the roots are provided with the right amount of oxygen. This leads to particularly strong growth and leaves your plants looking healthy and beautiful - in a completely natural way.

Seramis – plants love it.

Repotting with Seramis

Fill up 1/3 of your new, larger and watertight pot with Seramis clay granules. Place the plant and root ball inside and fill up the pot with Seramis clay granules. Push the Seramis water indicator down into the root ball to the bottom end of the indicator scale. Water the plant. The perfect watering amount is 1/4 of the total pot volume. Ensure you do not water too much because excess water could cause damage to your plant.

These are great for getting bulbs too root - bulbs like amaryllis which are often rootless if you are importing them to get past customs. The problem is that if your mixture does not drain fast the bulbs are prone to rot. This provides both aeration and prevents overwatering. Once rooted i transfer to a proper mix.

You could mix this with soil to improve drainage, i usually use perlite as it is cheaper. I cover the top few cm of my pot with sand to prevent gnats and then a layer of seramis - that prevents a slight draught blowing sand and perlite all over as this is more weighted.

Gone through 30kg of this already, that is how useful it is.

I'll be sad if this sells out as this is the cheapest online.

I like many cacti growers have had so many mixtures of compost.growing in ordinary compost with 50% extra grit is the standard receipe.but after seeing how they grow their plants at a cacti nursery in a place called Flordon- Norfolk.(Wendy-Richard Edginton)) I have now converted to Seramis and love the product.the granuals are inert (neither acid or alkaline)its vitually impossible to overwater the plants, lastly its pleasing to look at! So to sum up a very good product,Amazon supplied the Seramis at a very good price and was posted quickly..many thanks to all.

Seramis is an excellent growing medium for alpine plants either on its own, with plenty of feeding, or mixed with other growing media.
