I've hoped that someone would collate the anaglyph images (3D) taken by the 3 NASA rovers on Mars because the few that i've seen on websites are amazing. Yes they're largely rocks and soil but rocks and soil of a different planet! The 3D transforms what appear to be flat plains into undulating areas of near crevasse and for that alone they are invaluable. So the book arrived and I was disappointed in the size; it's not much bigger than a paperback (although it IS hardback). It's got a pair of anaglyph specs built in to the cover (not removeable) but see sense and buy a pair (red/cyan) off the web were they are freely available. My initial disappointment vanished when I began to view the pages. They are superb. Page after page of immaculate 3D scenes and more interestingly many 3D closeups of rocks or core samples. That might sound boring but it's not. The shallow depth of field really suits the anaglyph illusion and the image quality of tiny particles and abraded rock is stunning. All of this is complimented by some worthy prose that described the 3 rovers and their travels. This is a truly GREAT book and anyone with an interest in the subject MUST buy a copy. It's a real bargain at the price too. (No, i'm not related to the author.)
