5.0 out of 5 stars MARRIED TO A STRANGER 8 Oct 2011
By L. Sims TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sophia Langley had been betrothed to Daniel Chatterton for ten years. They had become betrothed just before he left for India with his twin brother Callum. Sophia had quarrelled with Callum before the brothers departure, he told her that it was ridiculous to become engaged she was too young, and he Daniel would be away a long time. She should wait to fall in love properly.
Now Daniel and Callum were returning home, but tragedy has struck the ship they were sailing in had sunk. Daniel had drowned, so Sophia was now free. In the years of her betrothed's absence Sophia's Father had died, and the family finances were quite dire. Debts had been mounting, traders were pressing for payment they had been willing to wait while they knew of Sophia's promised marriage they felt assured of eventual payment, as Daniel and Callum's older brother was William Earl of Flamborough. But now all that is no more and the bills can be left no longer, Sophia has decided that the only option is for her to find paid work.
Callum Chatterton knew he must do something for Sophia, he had tried to persuade his brother Daniel to provide for her in his will, but he had not and Callum felt it was his responsibility to make sure she was cared for, as it was now six months since the Bengal Queen had sunk and Daniel had died, Callum decided that the only course of action open to him was to marry Sophia himself, he could offer financial help but he knew she was too proud to accept that.
This was a very enjoyable book to read, the story takes the reader on a journey showing how two strangers learn to come to terms with the loss of a brother and fiancé, but are now married to each other. Sophia although shy is nevertheless not afraid to look at her true feelings of her lost love, and facing how she is now having feelings for her husband. Callum misses his twin and finds it difficult without him. He has married Sophia and done his duty to help her, but this will be a marriage of convenience for him. But he had not counted on how deeply she is beginning to affect him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nothing like having a marriage of convince to end a series 27 Jan 2013
By Melody May - Published on Amazon.com

This is the third installment of Danger and Desire series. This where we learn about what happen to Callum Chatterton. In the first book, we learn that Daniel drown in the sea. So, we have Callum dealing with the aftermath of the wreckage. We would know that Callum was suffer from PTSD, however, back then it wouldn't diagnois and they would get over it.

Well, Callum has decide to do his duty and take care of his brother's bethrothed. What better way to do that than to marry her? Sophia Langley has been engaged to Daniel Chatterton 10years. By the way, is a long time to wait for a guy. I don't know if I would do that. Hey, if she hadn't, then we wouldn't have a story here. One problem she fell out of love with Daniel sometime ago. I guess that's a good thing that he had not come back, I guess.

However, Callum doesn't know this, but he pursues her. She final accepts his proposal. However, laden with the guilt that she didn't love his brother final tells him the truth after they were married. Eek! Rotten luck, right, not so fast, surprisingly it works. However, they have to work out trust issues after all it is a marriage of convience. Does it turn into love or is just as it is a marriage of connivence?

I love the third book. Who doesn't love having a marriage of convience, coping with the death of a brother, and secrets that could destroy them all? So, go on and finish the series by reading Married to a Stranger.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly enjoyable read 4 Aug 2012

Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sophia Langley had been betrothed to Daniel Chatterton for ten years. As youthful teens they had promised to wed. The family had objected, sitting their youth, but they made their decision and the family reluctantly agreed.

Daniel had gone to India with his twin, Callum Chatterton, to build their careers and establish their futures. Yet, Daniel and Sophia had grown apart. Sophia dedicated herself to her art, with dreams of one day being successful with her talent. In fact, her art had saved her from falling into complete despair over her growing lack of affection for Daniel.

It was Callum Chatterton who informed Sophia of the ship wreck that had claimed Daniel's life. Callum felt responsible for Sophia and was astounded that she had not broken the engagement off with Daniel. Too many years had been wasted waiting for Daniel. Sophia was angry with herself for not morning her deceased betrothed as she should have.

Callum feels the best solution for Sophia and her mother is for him to marry her. He needed a wife and an heir. Who would be better then Sophia Langley? She was poised and an accomplished lady that he could be proud of.

It took a while for Callum to convince Sophia, but finally she accepted his proposal. He had been prepared to simply have a marriage of convenience, but the more he was with her; the more she captured his concentration.

For Sophia it was the same. Although he was the image of Daniel, Callum was different. He was mature, honorable and very thorough in the bedroom, which began to entice Sophia more and more.

This was an enjoyable read. There could have been more depth in their emotions and a little more action in the bedroom. I wanted to know more of how they felt for one another and communicate it to one another. Yet, for two people who had resigned not to experience love, it came to them regardless and that was the sweetest part of this romance.
