5.0 out of 5 stars A rich and satisfying romance 27 Jun. 2010
By josie82 TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
    Format:Mass Market Paperback
Catherine Marks has spent the last few years carefully instructing the Hathaway sisters in the finer points of being a lady. As their paid companion, she really enjoys her job and it would be perfect, if not for her charges' older brother - the thoroughly exasperating Leo Hathaway. The pair bicker like cats and dogs but when one quarrel ends in a kiss, everything changes, especially when Leo makes a dangerous proposition.

Leo must marry and produce an heir within the year or he'll lose his family home. Despite her respectable demeanour, Catherine hides a secret that could destroy her and take the Hathaway's with her. But Leo is sure that Cat holds the key to his dilemma and can't help but find her intriguing and infernally tempting. But with Leo determined never to love again and Cat determined to keep her secrets, will the pair ever see eye to eye and realise that they may be perfect for each other?

This is the fourth book in the Hathaway series (after Mine Till Midnight, Seduce Me at Sunrise, Tempt Me at Twilight: The Perfect Moonlit Love Affair and before Love in the Afternoon). While I'm sure you could read this book as a stand alone, I honestly think it'll make more sense and you'll understand the characters and their back stories more if you've read the rest of the Hathaway series before you read this book.

I love a couple that bicker and have been looking forward to Cat and Leo's story for some time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner 13 Oct. 2010
    By Lucy Hargrave VINE VOICE
    Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
Married by Morning, was a book I couldn't wait to read as I loved the glimpses we were given of Leo and Ms Marks or Catherine, and it didn't disappoint. It was well written, with good humour but also some tear jerking moment, for good and bad reasons.

I also love this book as we learnt more about the previous characters seen in the other Hathaway series, in particular Poppy and her husband, their book was my favourite Hathaway book ever! Although I won't give away the plot - as i personally find that annoying in reviews - the developing relationship between Leo and Catherine is beautiful but also learning more about each other past and overcoming them made the book and characters much richer.

    Another winner for Lisa Kleypas!

    5.0 out of 5 stars A Fabulous Read! 28 Oct. 2010
I was a little concerned before I started this book as I had read the Reviews that had been posted. One reader only gave the book a 2 star rating and I was worried that it might fall below my expectations for a Lisa Kleypas novel. I was not was wonderful. I realise this is a personal opinion but I have read all of Lisa's works and whilst I have my favourites, I truly thought this was up there with her best. The dialogue was witty and I really came to care for Leo and Catherine (but especially Leo).I love the fact that previous characters are brought back although one doesn't have to have read the other stories in the series in order to fully enjoy this novel..but I think it helps. So if you are thinking of buying this as perhaps a first Lisa Kleypas, please, please treat yourself to the books in order! I only wish there were some of her books I have not yet read. Can't wait for the last book in the Hathaway series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Married by Morning 22 Mar. 2013
Review taken from my Blog post (#40) in November 2011, when I borrowed the book fro the local library.

One of the Hathaway series of books (I believe this is the 4th book), but actually the first in the series that I have read.

The story of Catherine Marks (who is the paid companion of Beatrix Hathaway) and her stormy relationship with her employer, Leo Lord Ramsay.

She is not what she seems at all, but despite their arguments she is what he most definitely fantasies about.

Will she eventually out run the danger she is in, will he ultimately win the prize .. her?

I would highly recommend this as a 3.5 star read that was interesting and tempting enough that I ordered the whole series from the library.

4.0 out of 5 stars In Keeping with This Fine Series! 14 Nov. 2010
    By Loupop
Another triumph in the Hathaway family with this swift, enjoyable tale. Kleypas manages to maintain consistency with her protagonists yet again and as ever, the family are on the peripherals, though a little less than in this story's predecessors. The dialogue and interplay between the lovers is cracking as usual as Kleypas excels in this area and the story is entirely fitting for this pair particularly in view of the build up over the last couple of books.

All in all, another excellent read that will certainly not let down any fans of this genre and specifically of the Hathaway series. I very much look forward to the next and final installment. Great stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Read 2 July 2011
My summary of the book - After years of bickering and arguing with Catherine, Leo starts to realise there is something about her that he can't get out of his head. When he finds out who she really is and what her past is he vows to protect her but she tries hard to resist him. Soon against her better judgement she is letting Leo into her life and heart but has to overcome her past to live her future.

Thoughts on the characters - Catherine has been through so much and has done a good job of keeping the past in the past as she settled into her job as companion but she is unsettled by Leo. He makes her feel things that she has never felt before and she can't deal with it. When her past catches up with her she flees but Leo won't let her ago. He helps her overcome her past and show her who she can be.
Leo is very amusing and loves to bicker with Catherine but when he finally realises who she could be to him, he has to protect and have her in his life. As he helps her his caring side comes out and he shows her that what she has been told in the past is wrong and there is nothing wrong with her.

Thoughts on the writing style - Easy to read and really engaging. At the end of chapter it left on a cliffhanger which made me carry on reading which is very clever at grabbing you into the book and not letting you go.

Overall thoughts - Brilliant lovely book. The interactions between the pair is amusing when they bicker and you love it as you read about them falling in love as they still use their quips against each other but bring out other sides to their characters as well.
