This book is written very much in the Mills and Boon style - one of those perennial vengeful millionaire/billionaire themed stories. The hero in this (Heath) has harboured thoughts of revenge for a decade against his ex-girlfriend who he believes went back on an agreement to run away with him. He is resentful of his ex's privileged upbringing and decides that her no show was purely because she believed being with him would be a come down for her. He does not come over as being a particularly nice person and I certainly did not take to him. He is also rather unpleasant to all around him, at one point the heroine (Ann) justifiably accuses of him of having a chip on his shoulder. Ann to my mind is insipid and rather unattractively comes across as a bit of a martyr.

As for the book's plot - it is rather unlikely. The implausibility of Heath paying £7 million for a company (not to mention all the other numerous un totted-up expenses touched on) simply to exact revenge against Ann for something that happened when they were little more than kids looms large in the mind whilst reading. Nevertheless, though the story is well enough written it is terribly lacklustre and I honestly could not care about either of the couple. As the book looked like it was nearing a conclusion it seemed to linger a bit too long as the author took us through another turn in the plot. By then, for me, it had more than outstayed its welcome. Presentation wise, there are far too many irritating and unnecessary typos -including at one point Ann's name shown as Aim.

At the end of the book, there is a preview for another of the author's books, which sounded a tad too similar to this one. I can't really see myself reading another of her offerings any time soon.

This was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon read. However, I am getting tired on Kindle books which are full of spelling mistakes. Are these books not edited and proof read? I lost count of the times that "If s " was used instead of "It's"along with many other spelling mistakes. Eventually it becomes as distraction and spoils ones enjoyment of a book.

Wow, what a great book! I'm a sucker for a plot with a forced marriage for revenge, so this one has been on my to-read list for a while. I wish I would have read it sooner though because I enjoyed it very much. The hero, Heath, plays the role of the tortured hero/spurned lover. He's harsh at first, but it's hard not to sympathize with him because of his family history. Years ago, a woman named Ann broke his heart. Now that he's a self-made millionaire and her family is having legal and financial troubles, he's ready to make his move. He'll bail her brother out if she agrees to marry him. Ann has no choice, so they get married - and then the book takes a dark turn for a few chapters. Health treats her cruelly, but Ann does her best to fulfill her obligations in the marriage and realizes she still loves him despite what he's done to her. Sure, the plot is predictable, but it was a quick and emotional read with a HEA. I'm happy to have discovered this author and plan to look up more of her books.
