The dates given by Amazon's short description are wrong. Sanders was born October 17, 1902 and died October 24, 1992. He was 90 when he died. Sanders knows what he's talking about in this book about finding usefulness in later years. After he retired as general director of OMF (formerly China Inland Mission) he spent the next 25 years as an elder statesman, writer, and conference speaker. He wrote this book when he was 80 so the recommendations are definitely not just theory.

Sanders advocates retirement--not from life but from management jobs so the next generation can have a crack at it without having to forcibly remove the seniors. He himself got OMF to adopt a policy of mandatory retirement for management positions in the mission so the mission could move forward and not backwards. But the main focus of the book is about how everyone can remain useful in life if they are willing to adapt and look for God's opportunities--rather than stubbornly holding on to the past.
