Product Description

Agatha Christie's classic sleuth, Miss Marple (Geraldine McEwan), takes on another case of murder most foul. After a serious motorcycle accident, the dashing Jerry Burton (James D'Arcy) arrives in the sleepy village of Lymstock with his sister Joanna (Emilia Fox) to recuperate. Their expectations of peace and quiet are quickly dashed when they discover a poison pen-writer is at large in the village. Together Miss Marple and Jerry set out to stop the malicious messages before they result in another tragedy. Little do they know that they will ultimately unveil a murderer.

3.0 out of 5 stars not great 5 Mar 2008
By S. HADAVI VINE™ VOICE
The costumes and scenery are excellent, however, the story deviates from the book a little too much. jerry burton in book was injured in a flying accident, not trying to kill himself on his motor bike. Colonel Appelton did not blow his brains out in the book, he spent his time eyeing up young nursery governesses. The acting was fairly good Imogen Stubbs was very good as the odious Mrs Symmington, Geraldine McEwan is a good Miss marple. Emila Fox was also good as Joanna Burton. At times the acting did seem atad over done. Harry Enfield seemed an odd choice as Mr Symmington. Not as good as the BBC version with Joan Hickson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marple- moving finger 19 Nov 2010
Geraldine M conveys something other incarnations of Marple fail to do ~ have the attributes essential to being a successful elderly sleuth. the reinterpretation of this oft churned out tale is A1. Great story; excellent filmography and a cast of superb thespians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous piece of TV 25 Dec 2009
I absolutely love this! Although I grew up with Joan Hickson as the ultimate Miss Marple, I do really enjoy Geraldine McEwan's version. The Moving Finger is a brilliant piece of television - it's visually amazing and very, very stylised, which I adore. The cast are all excellent and the story, if it deviates from the book (which it probably does; I haven't read it in years), hardly suffers from it. I would recommend this wholeheartedly, but probably not to anyone wedded to the idea of a sedate little bit of village sleuthing a la Joan Hickson's Marple.
