MARMOT – THE COMPANY
Marmot was born in a former grocery store in Grand Junction, Colorado USA in the spring of 1974, opening as a rental and retail shop under the name of Marmot Mountain Works. Our original gear was targeted at climbers and mountaineers that needed products for real world use that they could depend on.

Colour Name:Black| Size Name:Large|Amazon Verified Purchase
The item is described as being black and we studied the picture on a number of website and thought that it looked more dark navy. We have now received the coat and my wife is very pleased with the item and the way that it fits. It is shaped around the waist and sits just on the knee (wife is 5" 5"). She is a size 12 but being longer in the arm normally buys size 14 coats. We bought the large size and it fits perfectly with a T shirt and thin cardigan underneath. Given it is down filled this will be more than adequate for the winter. It was bought for walking the dogs but the style makes it suitable for wearing to the shops. We had considered the Montreaux coat but it looks as though you are walking around in a sleeping bag.
As to the colour, it is not jet black and is definately more dark navy blue.The picture on Amazon gives a good representation of the colour. Read a few reviews about velcro on sleeves rubbing, there isn't any on sleeves. The cuffs adjust by poppers and front has zip and flap again secured with poppers. The only part which is definately black are the elasticated cuffs fitted inside the ends of the sleeves.
All in all a great quality item at a great price, we used the Autumn20 discount offer. Get this coat now as they won't be around for long.

I purchased this coat to replace a similar shorter version I have from Columbia. I'm very pleased especially as I received £44 discount in the Autimn offer. It is a nice streamlined shape compared to other down jackets I've seen with no fussy details. That's what made me choose it over similar jackets from North Face which I thought were more boxy. I like the fact that I can take the whole hood off as well as just the fur trim to make it more of an city wear item. It is a long length jacket which is what I wanted, but if you are less than 5 4" you might it find it a tad too long- its knee lenth. Really cosy and with the added benefit of waterproofing.
I'm a size 12 UK and the M fits fine with a little room for extra layers.
I agree with previous reviews though - in no way is this a black jacket - it is very dark blue.

This coat is very warm - I bought the same coat in brown two years ago and it has kept me wonderfully snug in winter. It has a couple of improvements on my previous version: poppers instead of velcro, so the material won't scuff as easily, and soft close-fitting inner cuffs to keep the cold from your wrists. However, although I ordered 'black' I have received what looks to me to be very dark blue, rather than certain black. This isn't so noticeable when worn with other colours but, when worn with black, the comparison is clear.
