5.0 out of 5 stars It works! 1 May 2012

I am so relieved. Having tried Digisenders (£109!) which kind of work, but are only SCART - so really naff picture - these babies delivered. There only appear to be a couple of options for avoiding drilling and cable laying if you want to send HD (or at least anything better than SCART signals). One is HDJuicebox powerline transmission - they appear to work but have serious issues with working alongside Powerline adaptors for your home network. If you dont use these, then go ahead.

The other option is Actiontec's wireless offering, which isnt sold in the UK. Russian Roulette time.

RF senders in general are cack. I have tried several. These puppies are MONSTROUSLY expensive, but they work. Straight away. No faffing, no setup. Straight through concrete walls and a total distance of about 30 feet. Havent tried any further as yet. But hey, 1080i without any careful placing or waving boxes around my head to try and get a signal.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Simples 25 July 2012

At last a video sender that actually works. I was beginning to loose hope after purchasing several and returning them as useless or only partially working e.g. IR not working or signal constantly dropping out.

The Marmitek GigaView 821 was unpacked and up and running within 30 mins. No hassle, no positioning aerials, in fact no drama's at all. The pack contains everything needed with the possible exception ( depending on your setup) of an additional HDMI cable as only one is supplied.

Mine is a modern house with plasterboard walls and both the transmitter and receiver are on the same floor. Never-the-less the signal is transmitted approximately 18 feet through 4 walls without any noticeable lag or loss of signal whatsoever.

Expensive? possibly, but you get what you pay for and it works brilliantly. You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very impressive 2 Oct 2012

I tried one of the cheaper hd senders but it didn't work very well at all.
This may be a lot more expensive but it's a great deal more stable.
I have it sending sky hd upstairs and the picture is perfect with no interference at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but works 12 Feb 2013

Bought for smart tv on wall connected to computer and dvd player wirelessly.

Plugged it all in and it set up within one minute. Never had a problem with it working and its so easy.
Is small and unobtrusive and so pleased with it.

It is expensive but i think one of the only ones which incorporates 3d viewing so worth it for me

2.0 out of 5 stars Product doesn't work with Sky+ HD 18 April 2013
Verified Purchase
The product is cheeply constructed, for the premium price I expected better quality than the less expensive alternatives. The IR LED does NOT work with Sky+ HD, no matter what angle it is placed (I'm using my older HDMI sender as the IR LED so now I have TWO senders to do the job that just one should be more than capable of. I have no idea why it comes with a remote control as it has no use what so ever. The audio quality is crystal clear one moment then static the next. The one good thing about this sender is the picture quality which is superb. Had I seen honest reviews of this product I would not have bought it so please think carefully before purchasing. If you're only after picture quality and don't care about the IR LED or audio then this is a good, if expensive, piece of tech.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job for me! 14 April 2013
Verified Purchase
I was assured by rob at 'buy me' that this was plug and play, and it was. I am only using in the lounge, which may be indulgent, so that I can remove the 8 m hdmi cable looping across the ceiling. I drilled a hole through the ceiling, at the centre the the projector ceiling mount, and fed the power cable for the receiver and projector to plug into the bedroom above. No more looping power cable either.

Picture perfect. Very pleased, took me a while to decide to buy because of the cost, but £230 was the best price I found and I was sick of the cable spaghetti.

1.0 out of 5 stars Technology no quite there yet.......... 21 Jan 2013

We bought one of these at Christmas to send a Sky HD feed to the bedroom which is about 8 metres away from the box. This is a very expensive product, and after reading the reviews in Home Cinema Choice it won the lab tests so thought it was worth a go at least.

The product itself seemed well made, the power supply's seem quite cheap and I'm not sure how long they would last, packaging etc was ok also. Set up is simple and painless, although very basic, and this is where my troubles started. I initially set up as I intended it to be used, hooked up to the Sky HD and the LED TV in the bedroom, but the units would NOT see each other. I then went through a trial and error procedure moving closer and closer until the units would "pair". This, sadly, was in the next room about 3 metres away.

I contacted the supplying company who were very helpful, giving me a host of things to try, but sadly none of this helped. I will point out we live in a modest 4 bed bungalow, and to get to the bedroom "as the crow flies" so to speak you need to pass through 3 walls which are all concrete, so this obviously doesn't help. I tried in most rooms and they would only pair in the adjoining room as mentioned so I had to send the product back for a refund.

The manual states 10 metres, when I finally had it working we were down to just a few metres with no walls to consider, and is the reason why I am giving it a one star review.

In theory this Gigaview is a great idea if you don't want wires, but after deliberating it for a week or two I have decided to go for Sky HD multi-Room which is £10 per month, so over 2 years worth if you go like for like pricing with this product. Would this product last for 2 years? Only time will tell I guess.
