5.0 out of 5 stars Web Marketing for Dummies - A Real Must! 15 Dec 2009
Format:Paperback
I read this book pretty much cover to cover on a flight from the UK to Canada. It's so easy to read and so digestable. I actually work in the Internet Marketing business myself, and in fact my own company WSI Business Marketing specialises in many of the topics contained within this book. So even for industry insiders I would say it's a useful reference book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive 10 Dec 2011
By Sarah H
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a large comprehensive book going into detail on a wealth of subjects. It is very helpful to use as a reference and if you want to get specific about something. For a beginner it may be a little overwhelming and off putting if you are just starting out and setting up, for example, your own website. It has helped me nevertheless to build my own sites though I have used other sources in the main to assist with these.

Check out[...],[...] and [...] and let me know what you think by leaving a comment. It would be much appreciated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review From Experienced Designer & Web Marketer 20 Dec 2009
By Compay - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have designed several hundred websites over the last decade. This book is easily one of the better primers for web marketing available today. While it doesn't serve as a replacement for books dedicated specifically to one subject (SEO, writing copy, etc), it's an excellent starting reference with a few new ideas for experienced web marketers.

Much of the first chapter (or "book" as it's referred to by the authors) is a basic overview of establishing a web presence. While most of their suggestions can be easily found online, the sub-chapter on writing effective copy contains useful pointers that normally wouldn't appear in design books.

The chapter on SEO offers an excellent breakdown for anyone not familiar with optimizing a site to rank well on search engines such as Yahoo and Google. If you're already familiar with basic SEO techniques, though, don't expect any new tips or techniques. This particular section of the book was seriously lacking, as evidenced by the author explaining how to optimize images, but not mentioning even the most basic of tips such as use of alternate image tags.

Chapter three, which covers Web Analytics, offers in-depth explanations of how to effectively track your visitors. This is followed up by a chapter on attracting those visitors to your website through paid advertising, and their techniques would definitely make this process easy for online marketing newbies.

Most of the Email marketing advice (save for writing copy) is impractical, as many advertisers use paid newsletter services that have eliminated the stress of manual email blasts.

The two best chapters of the book are easily the Blogging and Social Media marketing ones. Chapter six will explain everything an online marketing newbie needs to know about creating a blog, coming up with blogging ideas, and promoting your posts. Their techniques are immediately followed by methods of promoting yourself through social media websites such as Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and a variety of Bookmarking sites. One thing this chapter does well is explain how to master the art of subtle promotion without appearing to advertise.

While I thought the chapter on Search Engine Optimization was severely lacking for a book dedicated to web marketing, as a whole I think this deserves five stars as a thorough primer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Rockstar of Web Marketing Books 17 April 2009
By Amanda Halm - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Web Marketing All-in-One for Dummies saved me from going bald. Just when I was about to rip out my hair, during yet another attempt at web marketing, I found this book. I'm no longer terrified of analytics, I now know PPC stands for Pay Per Click, not Personal Pan Cod, and I SEOed my way out of permanent damnation from the google Gods.

It's informative, easy to read, and so hefty I now have Jennifer Aniston arms just from carrying it around. I'd recommend it to anyone starting an online business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent advice, clearly written 18 April 2009
By Philotera - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Web Marketing for Dummies is full of excellent, and useful, advice. Admittedly, the size was a little daunting. But then how else would they have fit so much stuff between the covers? As a small business owner who knows that I ought to do more, but isn't always sure what to do, I found this an excellent guide. It helped me discern what would be useful for me and my client base, and what strategies I could (for now) set aside. I highly recommend this, and don't be put off by the size, it isn't scary once you open it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Web Marketing Made Simple 6 July 2010
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The "For Dummies" series of books are known for taking the complex and making them understandable and practical. This book will show you everything you need to develop success online. No over-your-head tech talk, just clear simple techniques that anyone can act on right away.

Lacking SEO skills will mean the difference of being an unknown or a traffic magnet online. These eight minibooks will show you how to get your site found by search engines. Learn how to write ads that turn views to clicks, and clicks to sales.

If your spending money marketing online, this book will show you how to stop wasting your money, and maximize results. The book list the best techniques to generate traffic, and even how to reach your audience using mobile technology.

I highly recommend you buy this book, read it, act on it, and watch your online profits increase.

5.0 out of 5 stars web marketing for dummies 14 Mar 2010
By N. Schlecht - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I thought the book was well written, it was nice to have a mixture of experts on their subjects. If you've read some of the other internet marketing (like seo, ppc, etc)for dummies books, you'll appreciate the shorter chapters here. It really sums everything up in a lot less pages than one of the full books. For me, reading Search Engine Optimization for Dummies and then reading this book with the sections it felt more organized and not as repetitive.
