From the Editor

There’s so much to celebrate about Sarah Fine’s first novel for adult readers that I struggle with where to start. How about the setting? The year is 2099, and a mysterious near-apocalypse has left Boston flooded with a network of interconnected canals. In these former streets, the handsome Eli Margolis and the otherworldly Cacy Ferry work as emergency responders, answering calls to save victims of crime in this violent futuristic metropolis.

But that’s just the beginning. Cacy has a secret life, and the breakneck pace of her high-stakes story propels this rich and utterly original fantasy. (You’d never guess how versatile an amulet can be!) Throw in a pulse-quickening romance and a memorable cast of flawed but often heroic characters, and the result is a darkly imaginative, genre-straddling story that is much more than the sum of its parts.

But don’t take my word for it. I shared my now dog-eared copy with friends who are die-hard fans of romance novels, fantasy or whodunnits, and Sarah’s symbiotic weaving of elements from all three genres left everyone asking how soon they could read the sequel. Now that’s a true testament to a story.

So whether you want to heat up a winter night with the fiery love of two gorgeous protagonists, be teased by a gauntlet of potential villains, or simply bask in the escapism provided by all great entertainment, Sarah Fine’s new Servants of Fate series will beckon you in. Welcome to a world that greets adult readers warmly and leaves them with more than they came for.

Product Description

Product Description

In a broken landscape carved by environmental collapse, Boston paramedic Cacia Ferry risks life and limb on the front lines of a fragile and dangerous city. What most don’t know—including her sexy new partner, Eli Margolis—is that while Cacy works to save lives, she has another job ferrying the dead to the Afterlife. Once humans are “Marked” by Fate, the powerful Ferrys are called to escort the vulnerable souls to either eternal bliss or unending fire and pain.

Unaware of Cacy’s other life, Eli finds himself as mesmerized by his fierce and beautiful partner as he is mistrustful of the influential Ferry clan led by the Charon—who happens to be Cacy’s father. Cacy, in turn, can no longer deny her intense attraction to the mysterious ex-Ranger with a haunted past. But just as their relationship heats up, an apparent hit takes the Charon before his time. Shaken to the core, Cacy pursues the rogue element who has seized the reins of Fate, only to discover that Eli has a devastating secret of his own. Not knowing whom to trust, what will Cacy have to sacrifice to protect Eli—and to make sure humanity’s future is secure?

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous ~ five stars 30 Dec. 2014
By Lizzie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's so good to read an inventive, well-written story that has developed characters, sub plots that are important and keeps you wanting to read on. I was so disappointed when this finished and can't wait for the next.
An update on Greek mythology, mixing it with an imagined future, this has Charon the ferryman who delivers newly deceased souls to the afterlife as the head of a family, naturally with the second name of Ferry, who do the same with their scopes. They share the fare with the Kere, who they are most distrustful of, but whose job it is to mark a human when it's their time to die as decided by the Fates.
Cacy is the youngest daughter of the Charon and works as a paramedic. Her newest partner is Eli, who's just moved into the city with his brilliant, medical researcher sister. There's an instant attraction but of course her secret job ferrying souls either to heaven or hell gets in the way slightly as does some disturbing events that upsets the careful balance between the Ferry family and the Kere whose leader, Jason Monos is surprisingly not as bad as his publicity.
An adult book this does contain sex scenes that aren't gratuitous, neither is the violence.
An excellent five star read and thoroughly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars GO READ 13 Jan. 2015
By KindleLover TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book I have read of Sarah Fine, I got this book through kindle first. I will write an honest review and I am not being paid to do this.

I choose this book as the little bit I knew about it grabbed my attention, a powerful family in future version of earth, who guide souls to where ever they are destined to go. who also work with in “harmony” with the people who mark their fates.

I love the main character Cacia, belongs to the powerful family but refuses to get sucked into the corporate world and works as a paramedic. This is where she meets Eli a man who has moved to the city and is landed as her partner. they blossom a relationship but this doesn't set its self in place until more than halfway through the book, which I personally like due to the fact that it hasn't happened in the first 3 pages like most books which contain romances.

its a paranormal fantasy romance book and it had me hooked from the minute I started reading it.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy and romance or paranormal action type books. GO READ!

2.0 out of 5 stars A fair read 7 Jan. 2015
By Simon
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked the premise and it started well. However the writing is not tight enough for me and it did not spend time fleshing out the characters which means you do not get attached to them. The consequence of this meant that the sex chapters meant nothing but took up a lot of space, and you skip over them. The book got better at the end and makes you want the next book. Not sure I will buy it though

4.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book 2 Jan. 2015
By Steph
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved this book. This story. And all the characters so very much, and even though I was expecting greatness from this read, I was still blown away by it.

The twist between dystopian, mythology, and an almost sci fi feel was a heedy combination and one that had me eagerly turning the pages wanting more.

Sarah has always had the ability to write a well thought out, swoon worthy male leading role but she truly made a stand out hero in Eli. He was everything I like in a male lead, heck, everything I like in a man period. Hard working, loyal, loving, protective, sweet, romantic...really should I go on because I probably could be here all day.

Truly I loved every single minute of this story, the sexual tension, the family relationships, and of course the dark desolate world that Sarah created, not to mention the mythology behind it all.

Book two can not get here fast enough!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but... 19 Dec. 2014
By Mar
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book. The story is well paced and interesting. Unfortunately there were too many and too graphic sex pages for my taste. I thought I was getting a science fiction book but it turned out to have too much "romance" for my taste. I ended browsing by those parts and the book improved quite a lot

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fantasy read. 8 Dec. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
this was a new release that I decided to read. At first I was a little confused about how far in the future it was set and to be honest I still don't know.
The storyline itself is really quite good and flows quite well.
the characters are very intriguing and I can see this book turning into a series.
I did enjoy the book and found I could not put it down a few times.
if you like fantasy / romance then give it a go. I will definitely read the next book when it comes out.

But I hate not finishing a book and so pushed on through. It's overwrought and irritating in places. The story is disjointed and the characters one dimensional. Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars A new world to explore
It seems quite sad that most stories set in the future show a broken world. With small rays of hope. I enjoyed this book mostly and look forward to the next.
