Product Description

Hello. Mark Watson here. You've seen me on various TV stand-up shows perhaps, or hosting Never Mind The Buzzcocks, or you've tuned in to my own Radio 4 series, or read my books, or you've never quite done any of these things but have been waiting patiently for your moment. Well, this could be it. This is my eagerly-awaited debut DVD, which I recorded at a sold-out Bristol Hippodrome in July 2011 (I realise the previous sentence sounds a bit cocky, but it's the way people talk in advertising blurbs.). Anyway, it was a pretty lively show, with extreme audience participation, death-defying acts, and a devastating assault of jokes and stories. I also wave my arms around a lot and yell and there's a bit involving a Pringle which I didn't plan. There are also a couple of enticing extras.

Here are some things others have written about me:
'A stand-up superstar' Time Out New York
'A scholar, a gentleman and a brilliant stand-up' Evening Standard
'Simply Exhilarating' Daily Telegraph
'Mark Watson is a Prodigy' The Guardian

All in all, I feel there's a strong case for you buying this DVD and I for one would be delighted if you did.

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay. Nice guy. Not many jokes. 3 Dec 2013
Its an okay Dvd but there is a lack of jokes. Most of his decent antidotes came after the 45 minutes so Im glad I kept it on in the background until I found his actual scripted material. He's a nice guy, but thats about it.
Worth buying if you see it going cheap in the marketplace.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great comedian, and thoroughly nice chap. 11 Jan 2012
Mark Watson's stand-up ranks alongside the sort with which higher profile comedians regularly hold stadia across the UK to ransome. By his own admission insecure and introspective, it might be this lack of cut-throat ambition that instead sees him playing to modest but very respectable audiences in far nicer places like the Bristol Hippodrome, where this DVD was filmed.

He seems perfectly happy with his status, though, and this comes across in this lovely stroll through some of his best material from his his radio and stand-up work over the last few years. To that end fans and followers will have heard a lot of it, but he does add a few other ad-libs and bits of audience interaction which are a delight.

Extras include another, shorter show, from a few years ago, a one-to-one with Alex Horne (also a v funny man) and a tour diary.

Boring, dull, self indulgent, unfunny, banal rubbish.

Energetic, sharp and strangely addictive. Mark Watson's first DVD is one of the best stand up shows I've seen for a long time, highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars A loveable bloke 22 Jan 2012
By Ian B
I love Mark Watson. He's charming and interesting, hard working and humble. I love him on panel shows like BBC's Fighting Talk and have seen some solid 20 minute shows of his at festivals. But compared to other top comedians around, he didn't have anything like 70 minutes of funny material, and the extras (including a visit to the Bristol Zoo to see a plaque of Mark) were pretty lame. I didn't see the show live, and imagine the atmosphere was quite different live, so I'm basing this review solely on the DVD, not treating the DVD as a chance to reminisce about the live show.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good as when I was there!! 7 Jan 2012
By Jacko92
I was at the show where the DVD was recorded and it was brilliant. Mark Watson is different to quite a few other comedians in that's not just pure observation comedy. He gives off an infectious nervous energy and is not afraid to get involved with the crowd like when he gets into a persons seat when they leave for a few minutes and then surprises them when they find him in their seat. He also allows a man to propose to his girlfriend which is an extra on the DVD but was certainly interesting being there. Good solid DVD a little short but good things in small doses.
