5.0 out of 5 stars Space, time and genius 25 Mar 2010
By Dr. Delvis Memphistopheles TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Seering, austere as cold distant icy planets, Mark unleashes his focused laser sharp vision on the extermination of life. Guitars singe across the spectrum taking central stage cutting across the beats as Alomar rages across Bowie/Eno, scissored into fragments.

Survial is Mark pulling the trigger on Consumer Prostitution, selling time for money to buy things, only the rich can survival. Buying is the the opposite of inhabiting experiences. Mass hypnotism explored in dub beats, cut ups delivered with a laid back energy rather than the punk rush of prostitution. Chomsky for A musical literati.

Anger is holy, musical deconstruction encapsulating the personal anarchy of musical fascism being torn brick by brick. Moroder, dub and Marcuse bouncing to world musical heritage.

Thatcher/Reagan Star Wars, nuclear war oblivion pumped the volume in the 80's. Star Wars veers into juggernautical chunks of guitar as caustic industrial hip hop beats slither between the wheels.

Lucky autistic souls discovered 80's pap and danced till dawn in oblivious Pina Colada, Chardonay drenched and doused stupor; gently chewing cud and masticating on wonga. Mark meanwhile confronted the void, articulated in these sound sculptures, noting the sterility of middle class alienation creeping through the cracks of modernity. The vapour enveloping the blandness of their docile dreams.

Paradise; not in this lifetime, only ever an inner condition, rather than an external reality. The nearest Mark has approached the worlds of positivity, an escape from this world; of course.

Drawing on Mishima and his forbidden colours was a departure for Mark, Japanese machismo, perhaps a nod to at least a semblance of feeling in world shrouded in argon. The novel concerns the torture of love, the screw turned on beauty as the man seeks release in the bodies of other men reconfigured for Mr. Lawrence.

Transcending genres he turns black into white and back into noir. This is how the Clash should have sounded, amalgams of reggae, dub, hip hop, disco and punk moulded into transcendence when they left the world of mammonn after Combat Rock.

A man who never surrendered his singular penetrating all seeing focus and belief.

4.0 out of 5 stars more dub fuelled racket 4 April 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
this was the first mark stewart album i ever heard and it's also the one i come back to the most. for fans of reverb and noisy dance/dub music, well look no further. heh, the reverbs are so good i even named one of my own reverb settings after the third track. but it's also a good document of the time it was made; it bristles with the angst and anger of too much conservative rule. in its own way it rocks hard. good stuff

5.0 out of 5 stars Mark Stewart 25 Sep 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I use to have this on vinyl back in the 90's so I knew what I was buying. The music is personal taste. If you enjoy music from The On U Sound label then you will love this, if you havn't heard of The On U Sound label you probably shouldn't be buying it. It is sort of alternative indie reggae with a twist.
