5.0 out of 5 stars The Fiddle version of Jean Luc Ponty, 22 Jan 2012
By Alan Rubin - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: On the Mark (Audio CD)
Jean Luc Ponty has always been one of my favorite Jazzz violin artist. However, over a decade ago, I recorded this Mark O'Connor album onto cassette, off the radio jazz station 102.5 The wave, in Tampa Florida. That station is gone now. However, I always loved listening to this album on my cassette player, but the cassette deck needs some work to play properly now. I decided to go ahead and buy the CD version and I am so glad I did. A lot of people were not that crazy about this album or another one call Elysian Forest, but these are my favorites out of his collection. I am more of a Jazz affectionado than a country one, so I truly enjoyed both these album. Just about every song on the "On the Mark" album is wonderful. My favorite is "March of the Pharoahs". If you are more of a jazz buff than country, then these albums are worth listening to, if you are more country, then you should listen to his other albums, which are of that genre.

2.0 out of 5 stars Off the Mark, 28 Mar 2007
By B. Meyer "hrothgar the fearsome" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: On the Mark (Audio CD)
If you are interested in Mr. O'Connor's normally fabulous music (i.e. the 30 year retrospective album, Midnight on the Water, In Full Swing), you will likely gag at this album. Don't get me wrong, O'Connor has no contemporary comparison when it comes to talent and catchy Tunes. But this album is snlow and full of synthesizers and reverb, like a weird techno-trip back to the eighties. It's the music you might hear in a soundtrack of a corny after school special. The good stuff is buried too deep to find here.

previously owned and wore out cassette tape of O'Connor, "On The Mark". It is not available or published anymore. I was quite happy to find this on CD. Love the music and always feel better when I listen to it.
