About the Author

Louisa May Alcott was both an abolitionist and a feminist. She is best known for Little Women (1868), a semiautobiographical account of her childhood years with her sisters in Concord, Massachusetts. Alcott, unlike Jo, never married: ""...because I have fallen in love with so many pretty girls and never once the least bit with any man."" She was an advocate of women's suffrage and was the first woman to register to vote in Concord, Massachusetts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another wonderful short story from this author 12 May 2012

Two short stories for children. In `Marjorie's Three Gifts' a young girl's birthday wishes come true in an unexpected way. In `Roses and Forget-me-nots' a rich girl learns to think of others.

Although written for children, I have read and enjoyed them as an adult. Reminiscent of Little Women etc, by the same author. Two very short stories, which could teach us all about how to live our lives less selfishly.

I read it, as i always do to get to the end of a book in case in my view it got better, sorry to say not. In this case, I found this very heavy weather and boring so not to my taste.Sorry.
