Book Description

22 Oct 2007
Meet an average Joe, a GI Joe. In fact we'll call him "Joe," but that's not his name. Joe is content being just another cog amongst cogs in the Big Green Machine. He's average, he knows it, but he enjoys what he does. One day chance flips his world upside down. Joe finds himself dragged up to the CEO level of the Corporation for apprenticeship. Now looking down from the top, he sees the system for what it is and what he sees makes him nauseous. This is an Army he never knew existed and you might not either. Come and find out about coffee, fixing computers, the different versions of being "on time," the problems with talking to aviators, and the one perk of working for the Man. Marionettes, Puppet Masters, and Poobahs will take you where few have gone and no one talks about. Meet Joe and learn the system.

5.0 out of 5 stars The deflation needed of so many leaders who forget their roots... 14 Dec 2012

This book is a hoot. Since I know the family of the writer and know of his distinguished career as a current day warrior I was surprised that he writes so well. His humor in viewing life and those we all come into contact with in living is worthy of reading. While he writes of the foibles of field grade and higher officers and dealing with them, there is a direct application to the corporate and bureaucratic worlds that you cannot miss.
Most of us deal with the idiosyncrasies of persons who have climbed the ladder of rank...most moving to and through their level of competence and beyond.
If you don't see the humor in this book and you have reached senior levels in an organization, then you are probably one of whom he writes...
