A superb biography of one of the greatest all-rounders in motorsport, covering Mario's whole life from his childhood in wartime Italy to his appearance at Le Mans in 2000. Superb photography and excellent text by Kirby, a long-time observer of the US racing scene, with many quotes from Mario himself make this a compelling and fascinating book - excellent value given its size and lavishness.

This book is awesome in every way. The text is entertaining and informative. The photos are first rate, as well as abundant. This is my favorite book! Mario Andretti is the man, and this book gives a clear and very close-up look at his life and career. I was fortunate enough to get Mr Andretti autograph my copy, woo-hoo!
5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book about a great man 10 May 2013

I bought this book prior to meeting Mario in person. Mario and I share a common link by having family and being from the the town of Lucca, Italy. Mario has been my idol since I was a child.

When I finally got to met Mario, he was one of the most humble, likeable people I have every meet. He even told me some background stories from some of the pictures in the book. He signed by book and I got to talk to him for a while.

While at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix, we noticed that Mario was the most popular driver at the event, yet he has not raced in almost 20 years. Mario seems to make time for everyone. What a wonderful guy.

The book is an interesting read and has great pictures of one of the most likeable racers in the world.
