BEWARE. I bought one and it caught fire. Luckily I was close by to disconnect it from the 12 volt battery or the boat would have gone up with it. I say disconnect, what I mean is rip it off from the battery as fast as I could. Not safe at all.

Mostly does the job and provides NMEA data. Extremely fast acquisition of position and that was in a built-up area.

For my particular use, I would have liked a few more decimal points of resolution from the device. There are some configuration options if you need them e.g. you can switch off some data if you don't want it. I contacted the manufacturer but had no response whatever, so the reason I only give 3 stars is that I assume from that that if you need support you are going to be stuck.

Compared to GPS receivers offered by the main marine electronics companies, this unit is a bargain.
It gets a fix very quickly and in my boat is installed inside without requiring costly and difficult mounting externally.
