I was hoping for an illustrated guide to painting the sea and all things related, with an emphasis on 'illustrated'. Unfortunately this book was the wrong choice as there simply aren't enough illustrations.
The author knows his stuff but his excessive text is dry and dull and the illustrations he does supply lean heavily toward the impressionist, which is not my style. I hoped for a much more neutral approach, showing simple representational art which any budding artist must master before broadening their outlook, but this was missing.
Basically, the book is lacking enough and varied illustrations to make it useful. Instead, you have far too many words which make for a technically accurate but rather dull and impenetrable text book.
