Marilyn Edwards born in 1946 and living her formative years in Yorkshire, has worked most of her life in the book trade working for Jonathan Cape, Allen and Unwin, Random House etc. and never expected to change from gamekeeper to poacher by writing books. She says she found the process of being published as opposed to working in publishing a real eye-opener. Having retired from London publishing to a life of full time writing she moved with sales director husband Michael Dugdale - both northerners wanting to get back home - to a small village in Cumbria called Hutton Roof overlooking the Howgills and one of Yorkshire's famous Three Peaks where she lives with their four cats, Fannie, Titus, Pushkin and Gilly and fourteen Maran hens.
Her interests include reading, singing (badly), music (listening), birdwatching, riding, swimming, part-time farming and all things to do with nature and natural history. She loves all animals, not just cats, but cats have a special place in her heart.
She had four factual memoirs about her cats published by Hodder known as the Moon Cottage cat series, which have sold successfully over the years, but has recently turned to writing fiction and White Chin is her first foray into this challenging world. In White Chin she tells how life is, red in tooth and claw, from the point of view of a cat.
There will be a companion volume to White Chin after which she hopes to write a novel set in the Westmorland of the 18th century. More information on www.thecatsofmooncottage.co.uk
