Cast your mind back to 1959 , thats when Marigold made its London debut. The slight story is set in victorian Scotland . The music has a great deal of charm .The sound quality is very clear , once again a big Thank You to Must Close Saturday Records , for putting this together, on CD . Bonus tracks include revue material written by Marigolds composer Charles Zwar , book and lyrices are by Alan Melville . Its old fashioned , but thats no bad thing . Jeremy Brett is in good voice , he can also be heard to good effect , on the Original London Cast of Johnny The Priest . A CD for anyone interested in British musical theatre.

5.0 out of 5 stars A little treasure 28 Dec 2012

Its always a pleasure to hear a musical thats been forgotten.Marigold reminds me of a Coward musical and would have fared better if it had been produced maybe 10 t0 15 years earlier than 1959.It is a lovely little musical and has some pleasant tunes, and well recorded. The Reel is very enjoyable. The best part of this cd is the inclusion of Melvillainy. These revue songs and sketches are a joy.Old girls was my favourite.Buy it and enjoy.
