Marie Lynskey studied art for five years at the Reigate School of Art & Design in Surrey, England. She gained a National Diploma in General Art & Design and then a Higher National Diploma in Heraldry, Calligraphy & Illumination. She has been a full time freelance heraldic artist and calligrapher since 1983 and specialises in the production of decorative family trees. She produces illuminated scrolls for councils across the country and undertakes calligraphic and heraldic commissions from clients around the world. Her first book, Creative Calligraphy, was published in 1988, followed by Illumination for Calligraphers; Family Trees - A Manual for their Design, Layout and Display, and further calligraphy manuals. Her books have been praised for their clarity and ease of use.
In her spare time Marie is a keen dog trainer and most weekends find her competing with her golden retrievers at dog agility shows around the country.
