At last, a book accurately called small spaces - nothing larger than 60 sq metres: unfortunately, its glossy pages have few inspirational ideas.
Apart from 2 cleverly arranged studios and a few of the pages in the chapter on space-saving furniture, I didn't get much from this. Particularly disappointing as it comes out of the Marie Claire Maison stable.
The closest I have come so far to an inspirational book on small spaces is "Compact Living" by Jane Graining. However, although about half the spaces shown are small, they are all architect designed spaces that would not adapt to the average flat - mezzanines, sleeping platforms, spiral staircases, light wells, glass roofs. Several kitchens in a cupboard are shown, as well as a very clever bespoke kitchen with units that can be pulled out to enlarge the space when using it and otherwise pushed close together to give more living room space. Everything is high design, high spec and for the most part impossible for the average person to adapt.
Instead, good, practical books with clever ideas include "Making the Most of Small Spaces" by Anoop Parikh and Conran's "How to Live in Small Spaces".
