If you already have some M.C. publications in your cookbook collection, it might be worth noting that 'Marie Claire Kitchen' incorporates recipes that have previously appeared in 'Food and Drink', 'Fresh' and 'Zest'.
'There is something wonderfully satisfying about bringing a new dish to the table, but so often we stick with what we know.
Marie Claire Kitchen sets out to change all that. Packed with techniques, classic recipes and essential information, it's the tool box that every cook needs. From breakfast to dessert, all the basics are covered be it how to make a fluffy omelette or a crunchy meringue. There are also inspirational hints and tips that let you add touches of luxury just when you need them. Finally, there are over 600 recipes and recipe ideas from our growing collection - each one showing how easy it is to create fresh, fast and delicious meals.'
A weighty tome, this is one of the large format MC books (there is also a 'Chunky' range) and remains my favourite, mainly because the pages stay open where you want them to!
It has 400 shiny high quality pages, split over 8 main chapters:-
1. Breakfast
2. Kitchen Bench
3. Salads
4. Summertime
5. Afternoon Tea
6. Cocktails
7. Dinner
8. Desserts
plus an introduction entitled 'Keeping Things Simple', a glossary and a concise index.
Each chapter is further split into two sections:-
1. Inspiration
2. Recipes
Typical of this lavish series, this book is clearly written with mouth-watering photography throughout. Each 'basic' is clearly laid out, as are the recipe ingredients and method.
