Icon HD net ready is the new frontier in gas integrated computers. Whereas until now the dive computer was simply a passive receiver of information, with the new Mares bi-directional technology, Icon HD is ready to communicate actively with the tank module for an unprecedented level of safety and user friendliness.
The combination with icon's high definition color display brings tank pressure information to a new level. Detailed numerical information is accompanied by intuitive, at-a-glance color coding. Blue and green means the pressure is above the mid tank warning, red means the pressure is below the reserve, orange and yellow for values inbetween.
The thresholds are set by the user for maximum customization.

Mares Icon HD Dive Computer

I used my new Mares HD Icon dive computer on my trip to the Dominican Republic. The first couple dives it was amazing, but did not log my dives. Then on the3rd dive it started to. I am not sure the reason it didn't , but I could not find anything wrong with it, or any help in the book. Other than that lil glitch, the dive computer was awesome. I was doing multiple daily dives and it had a vast amount of features that allowed me to review my dive while underwater. Also, I have dad eyesight, and the color HD screen was great and i could see everything on the screen from my depths and compass. Later i downloaded the log book from the Icon and it gives you a great record of your dive. overall a very nice piece of gear. It will be great when this computer comes out with air integration(which i hear is coming this year)
Great dive computer with upgrade program

Pros:This is a fantastic dive computer. The backlit display makes it easy to read even in poor light conditions. The dive planning function is extremely user friendly and the dive organizer works like a charm. Very user friendly and easy to teach to others.
Cons: This is not a plug and play USB connection to your computer. There are a series of hyper specific instructions to install the drivers properly. Leaving the unit uncharged for a couple of months will result in low battery life for a few dives until you can get a few cycles on the battery.
Bonus: There is an upgrade program Mares is offering until the end of April 2012 to swap it for their air integrated version. You just have to pay for the tank sensor.
Overall, well worth the money for the peace of mind you get using this computer.
