Product Description

Review

Sadly, this set of east-west dialogues navigating back-and-forth across the Mediterranean is the last recording from soprano Montserrat Figueras, who died last year. Her signing is juxtaposed with that of Lior Elmaleh, a mainstay of the Israeli Andalusian orchestra: the repertoire runs from Berber lullabies and Turkish dances to a modern song by the cantor Asher Mizrahi. Ouds, lutes and qanun are exquisite. ***** --David Honigmann, Financial Times, 11-12 February 2012
