Marcus Bolt was born and lived in London's East End. When he was twelve, his family moved to a new town in Hertfordshire where he attended the local grammar school.
Marcus went on to study at art college, leaving with a first degree in Graphic Design. He then worked alternately for design groups and as both art and primary school teacher until becoming a freelance writer and graphic artist in the nineteen-eighties, which he still is today.
In 1968 he joined Subud, a little known spiritual movement, and is still a member. His book 'Saving Grace' reflects on his membership.
He has also written a psycho-spiritual novel, 'Monkey Trap', a book showcasing collection of 40 years of personal Christmas cards called 'Christmas Is On the Cards'); a childrens' book called 'Jack's Friends' and has published a book of his articles, essays, poetry and reflections (collected over a fifty year period) called 'Odds and Sods' with a second edition recently published including more material and called 'Odds and Sods 2'.
Marcus is married with two daughters and three grandsons and lives south of Bristol. It is said that, in his spare time, he takes photographs like Art Blakey and plays drums like Cartier-Bresson.
