Book Description

22 Nov 2013 Marching With Caesar
In the final installation of the bestselling Marching With Caesar®-Titus Pullus series, Camp Prefect Titus Pullus participates in his Final Campaign, the invasion of Thrace by the Governor of Macedonia, Marcus Primus. Although claiming that the expedition has the blessing of the Roman now referred to as Augustus, the reality turns out to be far different, and Pullus finds himself embroiled in the toughest battle of his career. Making it more difficult, his final fight will be conducted not on a battlefield, but in Rome itself, in a courtroom, pitting Titus against some patricians of Rome who are determined to make an example of a man who dares to try and improve his circumstances and standing in the rigid hierarchy of Roman society. The question that plagues Titus is: What side is Augustus on?

5.0 out of 5 stars A FITTING FINALE TO AN EPIC SERIES. 31 Dec 2013
By Trajan
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The ultimate sequel in this excellent series does not disappoint, the narrative is fast paced, well written, with intrigue and subtle humour, at the same time a moving and compelling tale. Without giving away spoilers, the Final Campaign brings home to the reader the absolute loyalty and depth of comradeship that exists between soldiers who have faced death in battle, from the highest ranker to the lowest. All in all Ron Peake in his Final Campaign has penned a fitting and poignant finale to an EPIC series. I am looking forward to the next generation with anticipation.

THE PERFECT COMPANION TO THIS EXCELLENT SERIES IS, THE ROMA VICTRIX WINE BEAKER. Ron Peake is the proud owner of one, this is what he has to say about it:
The workmanship is outstanding, and while I am certainly no expert on pieces of this type, it has a substantial feel to it; when I pick it up there's nothing flimsy about it and one can feel and see the craftsmanship that went into it. The engraved figures are extraordinarily detailed; All in all I couldn't be happier with the Calix and what it represents. Truly Rome is eternal if even now people around the world are still interested in the Legions, and this Calix is a worthy representative of that time and place!Calix Imperium, Roma Victrix Pewter wine beaker

For those who would like further information on this epoch of Roman military history, I highly recommend the OSPREY Campaign, Warrior, and men at arms booklets, with great overviews, excellent illustrations, and highly detailed maps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marching with Caesar 16 Feb 2014

I have been in a re enactment group for a number of years, so when it comes to reading roman army fiction, I am quite critical about tactics, equipment and how a legion functioned in general. I, like most readers of roman fiction have read books by, Douglas Jackson, MC Scott, Ben Kane, Anyhony Riches, Simon Scarrow, Conn Iggulden and many more, they were all enjoyable and worth a read, but I have found that the series 'Marching with Caesar' by RW Peake to be by far the best books I have read, and would recommend them to anyone. I have read all of the books following the life of Titus Pullus, and now look forward to his new series about Gaius.

5.0 out of 5 stars The entire series is GREAT reading 2 Mar 2014

Talk about historical fiction at its best! This entire series drew me into the brutal and at times unfair reality of the Roman way of life during Caesar's life time. I read these books and often wondered how my ancestors survived so that I could be here writing this review. If you are into historical fiction, check this series out from book one onward….

5.0 out of 5 stars A good book to end a good series. 3 Feb 2014
By rly - Published on Amazon.com

I really enjoyed this book as I have all the books of this series. Mr Peake not only tried to bring to life the roman soldier but the socio- political conditions, events and people that so influenced their lives. Whether his characters and his conditions are actually historical fact is beside the point, the point is that he writes with enough fact that I can beleive they are. I am sorry for the passing of such a great character as Titus Pullo, hopefully Mr Peake finds a way to keep writing about the Legions and Rome.

This "Marching with Caesar" series is a wonderful conmpilation of one man, thoughout his life.... I was sorry the series ended, but he will continue writing it with the family of the original hero, I consider this as great a series as Colleen McCollum's.... Thank you E.W.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling!! 20 Jan 2014

Another great story. Whilst I cannot agree with the authors choice of ending for one of the characters as I am too connected to him to want that for him, it is a story that kidnaps you for the duration. Ron was there not another way??! Maybe relaxing in comfort after a family visit :)
