Well well, the MARC shows finally gets it's first official release on DVD. Not quite, as previously mentioned only Marc's performances survive this particular release. You might think that most Bolan fans would be delighted that it IS just Marc we have here?....WRONG. The show should have been made available in it's entirety as the line ups (if you don't count the dodgy guests like, stephenie de sykes and jamie wild..who? exactly!)
were quite impressive for a time when alot of punk or new wave bands couldn't get air time on national T.V. The Boomtown Rats, Hawkwind, Generation X, Bowie, Eddie and the Hot Rods, Roger Taylor from Queen, Radiostars, Thin Lizzy and more....this release could have been so much better than what we have. Being a Huge Bolan fan myself i applaud that this has finally become available even without the guests but it would have been so much better had they been included.
Marc's performances reflect his joy at being back on track and being slim again and full of energy (even if he did over camp it) but you can't deny he was having fun! just look at that cheeky grin that keeps punctuating his performances. Marc was on his way back and a second series was planned for 78 cut short by Marc's tragic death in sept 77, in fact the last two shows aired after Marc's death. One gem remains at the end of this DVD and thats Marc and Bowie performing together for a live jam with Marc falling off the stage at the end much to Davids delight!....great fun....still get it...Marc still boogies!
