I went for this more expensive version as some people reported trouble programming the cheaper ones. Setting up required following simple instructions and typing in a code, 10 minutes was all it took. My Mum has a Hitachi TV there were about 10 different applicable codes, type one in, if it works OK if not try the next. From experience I tried back to front. In the end I found one that worked, my Mum was happy with it - arthritis makes selecting small buttons difficult. Sadley, the mute doesn't work, might try the auto search function later.
Minor criticism; The reason I wanted big buttons was to combat wrong button syndrome. So any manufacturer will get my vote and a lot of business if they who can come up with a TV remote that does sound, channel (up and down) plus select channel by number, on/off and mute. i.e. there are too many buttons. I am going to make a mask/shield to isolate the fancy buttons to eliminate wrong button syndrome.
