I think for the price this pedal is a great addition to your drum kit

Overall the pedal is very sturdy and well built. The chains are powerful and tension is easy to adjust, the truss rod between pedals is length adjustable to accomodate different kit setups and the beaters are height and direction adjustable. All features are secured by nuts with a standard drum key and secure nicely.

The footboards themselves are extremely easy to play on. They have a great feel on the foot, aren't extremely slippery and provide a good amount of force across the whole board. The chains also feel very resilient, and the whole pedal holds itself together very well when transporting - even when lifting by the truss rod alone.

The only downside I have found personally to this is that the support on the master (right) pedal is inadequate. The two metal rods connect too high up the base and this causes a lever effect that can make the pedal fall over very easily when playing. If you're buying this pedal for an electric drum kit you will need to modify it in some way as the pedal won't stay in place when put off centre to the electronic kick drum pad.

However if you can secure the pedal clamp properly and are using it on a real bass drum for a real kit then this is a steal. Sure, you haven't got hi-hat clutch pedals and thick metal bases, but you get easy smooth double beats and fast heel-toe/slide beats. Double/triple rolls and hihg tempo double bass beats are really easy to play.

My advice. If you can afford a pedal with a proper metal base instead of these metal rods then cough up the extra cash. If you're looking for a bargain that you don't mind modding slightly then pick it up. If your a beginner looking for a low cost practice kit then pick this up. A superb pedal for the price, but remember - you get what you pay for

I bought these pedals after I broke my cheap Gear4music pedals. The review I found was 3 star so I was hesitant, however I couldn`t see any known names for under a hundred pound. These pedals are great they clamp to my Alesis DM8 usb perfectly and they play superbly. I highly recommend them to anybody especially if like me your on a budget. These pedals can defiatley withstand the double foot blast.

I spent some time deciding on which double pedal to go for and after reading many write up and reviews I selected the Mapex P500TW. First off the price was the first thing to grab my attention! There are many pedals at a similar price but all others seem to be unknown names and brands. But far from a flimsy cheap pedal!
The P500TW was a upgrade from my Mapex single pedal p500, so I knew what I was getting from the Mapex brand. The pedal is mainly used for home use on a electric kit so I don't need a full on sturdy base plates and double chain.
I would highly recommend this pedal 10/10

As a newbie to drumming, I wanted to learn with a double bass drum pedal. I had been using a borrowed one on my Roland TD15 until this unit arrived. What an improvement the p500tw was, instantly I was able to feel alot more control and speed from these pedals. As I mentioned I am a new drummer and feel these pedals were just what I was looking for, maybe to an experienced player they could be terrible. 4 stars because I would of liked the option to put the pedals closer together (if that's what layout you want), with maybe an additional shorter extension bar(s). At shortest setting it clashes with my hi-hat pedal, that's the only negative thing I've found. I have the slave pedal to the left of my hi-hat and and there's enough extension to clear that. I like the pedals and i am glad to have bought them

My son is learning the drums and was asking for a double bass pedal for some time. Eventually I gave in and apart from having to take loads of paracetomol it was a great buy. He sounds amazing and loves playing with the new pedals,. He is doing Music GCSE so lets hope that they have helped.
