My hopes were high for this book, following on from the exceptionally high standard and detail of the warcraft games and novels.

Unfortunately this doesn't quite cut the mustard. Yes it just about covers every creature in the warcraft 3 environment, and yes it would probably serve it's purpose well to a dedicated D&D roleplay game but it seems to lack the style and finish that the games possessed in abundance.

Firstly the glossy and colourful cover belies it's true contents
which is completely black and white throughout. Secondly the illustations have mostly been taken from previously seen warcraft art that featured in the manuals, or strategy guides. As such the illustrations are dull, small, lifeless and for the most part unfinished. (A far cry from the colourful and polished games I have become accustomed to.) Unit statistics are rather distanced from that in the games (an opportunity missed) and presented in a tiresome and drawn out manner.

In conclusion whilst the manual strives to cover every unit type found in the warcraft environment, it does so in a poorly presented and tedious manner. For those who loved the polish and presentation of the games, you would do better to stick with the highly superior warcraft games and fictional novels.

This book is probebly the best so far in the Warcraft role playing game series, even if your not going to use it for the game its worth buying. It has in depth information about each creature that inhabbits the World of Azeroth (the place the game is set) along with a detailed drawing of each of them. On top of all this it has the villians their items and a table in the back to compare the monsters to each other. All in all a first class book.
