Ok, from the rating and the title you may be confused about what I think of this item, but I really do love it - the title is because I want to highlight the fact that this box is not what I would call a splitter. What this box does, is enable those of you with nice posh TV and computer and broadband internet, to hook up, both the TV and the computer monitor so that at the push of a button, you can watch iplayer or whatever on the TV. You will not be able to watch the computer monitor at the same time, that will go blank as soon as you press the button, and you will only see the images on the TV. When you want to return to using your TV normally or to use your computer with its monitor, you just press the other button. It does not require a power supply.
To set up this box, you will need a good length of cable with VGA sockets at each end, going from the box to your TV, and another lead which will from the box to your monitor. The existing lead you have for your computer to monitor is going to go to the box and act as a feed. You are also going to need, depending on the type of leads you use, some female to female and male to male 15 pin converters also known as gender changers. I ended up using one of each with my cables. They are cheap and the company I bought this box from supplies them. This box is cheap and will stop you having to mess around with VGA sockets and cables all the time, so it is a real time saver.

For less than £10 you really can't go wrong.
I have 1 VGA port in the back of my high res samsung monitor and my problem was switching between my xbox's VGA output and my desktop PC output. Taking out the cable from my monitor all the time was driving me crazy.
This sorted that out so it works. Make sure you have all of the VGA cables hooked up correctly... I did the silly thing of getting them mixed up and was convinced the box didn't work.
It only gets 4 stars because the buttons and the feel of it is a bit cheap however it looks good in black, as long as you are using it nobody will be able to tell you it feels like a cheap box of nothing. Would advise this if you have a similar set-up to mine.
Remember this switches between 2 outputs to one monitor or it switches between two monitors from 1 output.

Does exactly what it say on the tin,
I have my laptop and desktop using a single monitor through this switch and it works very well. I initially had problems with ghosting but after buying high quality cables it disappeared.
One note of caution I use Ubuntu Linux in addition to XP on my desktop and as this switch does not transmit monitor Id's Ubuntu is not displayed properly because it can not detect monitors resolution. Works well with windows7 and XP however as you can manually set screen resolutions.
Overall a good cheap solution but be careful if using Ubuntu/Linux

Works fine, but doesn't allow detection of resolutions

Poor, very poor!
Doesn't support a high screen resolution, looks and feels poor, cant make it work properly for my screen sizes and causes ghosting. Advoid this at all costs, total waste of money

Good stuff
All I have got to say is that the little box does its job. One PC, two monitors = switches perfectly between them, no need to buy expensive stuff. Go for it.
