5.0 out of 5 stars Great 3D TV 29 Dec 2011
By Amber T
Took a gamble & received new 42" 3D TV today. WoW, what a great TV for £350!! Playing through a 3D Blu Ray player the simple to use Passive 3D is really very good. Doesn't hurt your eyes, Glasses are comfortable (clip on's for my glasses also supplied)& have watched Harry Potter 3D, Family very impressed.
Picture on normal TV is good, sound adequate, not too loud or quiet. Very easy to set up & tune in (about 5 to 6mins). The 3D option is simple to operate & even if you don't have a 3D Movie to watch you can use the 2D to 3D converter which gives a 3D effect on normal TV (just set to level 2 or 3 for comfort), really is very good. Was a bit nervous as seems to be cheapest 3D TV available but even just as normal 42inch TV at this price if you don't use 3D, it's still a very good buy - Well done Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st 3d TV - update 14 Jan 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
Have only had this TV for a few days but up till now have found it to be quite good. Some people say it can't be a very good TV for the price, must be cheap and nasty. As far as I have found in the few days I have used it, this is not the case. Reading the reviews before deciding to purchase I noticed that someone said the sound was 'very tinny'. I am wondering whether the location adversely effects the sound as I found it to be exactly the opposite. My TV is set back in an alcove and I found that I had to give it more treble as the sound was very heavy. I wasn't bothered about the reviews regarding the sound because I have a home cinema system which I was intending to connect to eventually but because of the settings in the TV I might not do this now.

I have had the tv for a couple of months now and I am really pleased with it.
Just a couple of minor niggles though. When the set is switched off the settings for the 3d and also the time go back to the default and need to be reset next time you switch on. Although this is not a problem it can be frustrating. Does anyone know if there is a way to save these settings and if so how?
I cannot find any mention in the manual regarding this.

Regarding the time and date resetting to default, I have noticed that if you go to the digital setting when you first switch on ie. for Freeview, the time and date automatically set themselves. Although this does not solve the problem as to why it loses them again when you switch off it does mean you do not have to set them each time manually.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why less than 5 star reviews? 27 Jan 2012
By Jt562
Frankly I don't understand why there are less than 5 star reviews, you are reviewing the product and price and for both the manta tv is very good.
As others were I was sceptical however after receiving the tv (1 day delivery also) I was blown away.
Pros:
The screen is of a very high quality.
YES the 3D is excellent.
PS3 GT5 is great on this tv cockpit view really stands out.
It does everything else a tv should do!
2d to 3d conversion on ps3 non 3d games is great.
ALSO I don't understand the one review saying that there is no EPG as there is and has 7 days of programme listings (the blue button)
Cons:
Speaker arnt the best but nothing to complain about plus I use 2.1 speakers so doesn't effect me.
2d to 3d conversion, 2 is the best setting, simply set using the 3d button on the controller. However on some programmes the 3d does ghost, but when the conversation works properly it's great.

Yes this is not active, however after using both I feel that the passive is a) cheaper and b) less eye strain.

Short story: if you want a 42" hd tv and are planning to spend £350 then get this. And if you are like me and want 3d but don't have more than £350 to spend GET this!!!
