Worth the Price!! Pain to set up with a PC,

This review is from: Manta 3D LCD4214 42-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD 3D LCD TV with Freeview and 4 Pairs of 3D Glasses (Electronics)
Ok here goes my first review on amazon:Pros: Brilliant value, Capable of amazing 3D!, allows those who dont want to spend a lot benifit from 3D Cons: Remote (Does the basics I guess but feels cheepy and you have to press the OK button pretty hard to work), 2D to 3D mode only OK on level 2 (even then theres crosstalk) Ok the reason I am giving this TV 5 stars is because for the money you cant get any better right now for less than £350. I am very picky with technology and have never in my life bought any form of 'value brand' when it comes to home cinema. If your after a TV that you will be only watching 2D material on and want to see it in 3D then this TV is not for you! If your using a 3D Blu Ray player the results are amazing. I have been using my PC using HDMI and it has been a headache to set up to say the least. I have not yet been able to get 3D 100% perfect yet. Ive tried using 1080P and 720P frame packed HDMI 1.4, nvidia 3D vision (sometimes works although this tv is not supported) and interleaved. This TV does overscan on the HDMI which results in the image being oversized slightly (For example the taskbar in windows is half cut off) so the first thing I did was set the output to underscan (reduce the image size to make it fit on the screen) As earlier suggested this may have an effect on the SBS and TAB processing so i will try these modes whilst underscanning is turned off. On the current setting the 3D on some particular films has been AMAZING - a lot better than I could ever expect from a 3D TV at this price. There is some slight ghosting/crosstalk on background objects from time to time but forground objects always stay fine and detailed. I have found that if you are sat straight on with the tv the crosstalk is almost eliminated. I can also confirm there is NO BACKLIGHT BLEEDING AT ALL so that is just a load of rubbish! If you wish to connect your PC and not view 3D content I suggest using VGA at full HD resolution as you get a much better picture for reading text. I was watching Michael Jacksons 'This is it' 3D bonus disc and was amazed. This was a great show of what the TV was capable of. It showed zombies walking up to the screen and each in turn pointing objects out of the screen in 3D. At one point a sword was pointed out and it must have only been about 30cm away from my face and perfectly detailed! Another scene was a little girl wandering through some woods in summer and then blew a dandelion so that seeds flew off and i could see them floating out of TV all over and again quite detailed. I was shocked as watching IMAX hubble 3d was nowhere near as impressive. Avatar was also a great 3D film, the depth and detail was great! Watching standard definition 2D content was not very impressive at times. The TV really likes to show how poor SD really is but sat at a distance of 2M or further away it is still perfectly watchable. 2D HD picture was perfectly fine and you can tell it is a decent LG panel behind this TV. All in all I can say I dont regret paying the £350 for this TV. I was very hesitant at first but I know I made the right choice. 3D is definately the way forward and not just a gimmick as it is seen in some films (Final destination 3D etc..)! I hope my review has answered some questions for the more 'Techy' people among us.

Bought this set and was a bit wary.Got it unpacked and set up - tuning is painless and the 2d picture looks good with an IPS panel. Colours are strong which I like, but some may want to tone them down a bit. The 2d to 3d conversion is relatively pointless - it either makes the display band with the glasses on, or just adds depth to the entire image 9at least from the DTV tuner). It is important to note that this set overscans a little bit. I set my ATI card on my HTPC to underscan, and then tried some 3d content. This is important: Using underscan on your computer will mess up the sbs processing - leave it in 1:1 format and the 3d is superb - it took me a whole day to figure this out however! Once I did, stunning 3d for a very low price. I only use sound through my amp anyway so this is not an issue for me. If you are deliberating, I'd say get this one.

Great 3D TV,
This review is from: Manta 3D LCD4214 42-inch Widescreen 1080p Full HD 3D LCD TV with Freeview and 4 Pairs of 3D Glasses (Electronics)
Took a gamble & received new 42" 3D TV today. WoW, what a great TV for £350!! Playing through a 3D Blu Ray player the simple to use Passive 3D is really very good. Doesn't hurt your eyes, Glasses are comfortable (clip on's for my glasses also supplied)& have watched Harry Potter 3D, Family very impressed.Picture on normal TV is good, sound adequate, not too loud or quiet. Very easy to set up & tune in (about 5 to 6mins). The 3D option is simple to operate & even if you don't have a 3D Movie to watch you can use the 2D to 3D converter which gives a 3D effect on normal TV (just set to level 2 or 3 for comfort), really is very good. Was a bit nervous as seems to be cheapest 3D TV available but even just as normal 42inch TV at this price if you don't use 3D, it's still a very good buy - Well done Amazon!
