Book Description

3 July 2008

A unique book, which addresses a calamity many men face, was written by the Northwest Author, Michael Louis Eads: A Man's Feelings, Finding Closure After Divorce.

Divorce, a word synonymous with failure, disappointment and heartache; any man who loved his wife and went through divorce feels the stigma and loss. The courts use these words: dissolution, irretrievable and broken. These heartless terms create turmoil to a man going through divorce. They don't even account for or describe the agony a man endures during this crisis.

This is a personal account of how Michael went through these hard times, and how he came out the other end with a positive attitude, and a vigorous new life. Going through this crisis, he found his own identity and self-esteem in question. His whole life was a question mark from the day his wife first said the word, Divorce, but with a step-by-step process, and help from friends and counseling, he got through it.

"I believe with the raw personal expertise of an everyday man, Michael's story is unique and uplifting. His advice is straightforward and insightful, offering hope and encouragement on the long road to find a new life for any man struggling for happiness after losing the love of his life," said his friend Bob Olson, who has known Michael since his teens.

In Michael's research of divorce books, he had found that almost all deal with the legal ramifications of divorce. Few deal with the stigma, heartache and emotional turmoil that a man must face during separation and divorce.

"I feel my book exposes the most basic need in all men after divorce, that is, the overwhelming desire to find some semblance of happiness, well-being, and ultimately, closure. It is my hope that after reading this book, you will realize its value and potential." --The Publisher

In his book, A Man s Feelings: Finding Closure After Divorce, Michael Eads takes us on a personal journey following his own divorce. By relating his experience of coming to terms with the end of his marriage, and the stages of grief and loss that accompanied that, we also join him on his road to acceptance, letting go, and finally finding hope, happiness, and well-being in the aftermath of his divorce. All the while that Michael is telling his own tale, he is providing a road map for men (and women) who are in the midst of the confusion, hurt and pain, and emotional floundering that can come with the experience of confronting the end of a marriage while attempting to put life back in order. Michael is open and sharing about his vulnerabilities and growth, so that one can almost feel that he is sitting with you, a good friend, there to share his experience, to help you find some sense of direction in unknown and uncharted territory. I highly recommend this book to anyone embarking on their own such journey. --Susan Sterling, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist

More About the Author

I love the written word and believe that: "new emotions are born from 'the process.' When men go through crisis and tragedy, unfamiliar feelings are summoned and our character is redefined. When we meet these challenges head on and accept the changes we must go through, we discover one more characteristic, integrity."

My major influences are my parents who no longer grace the physical world. I suppose this is where I tell you my unique qualities. Unfortunately, words can only describe very little of the human mystique. This is the conundrum; words are all writers have to explain all there is. It is not enough but I enjoy the challenge of trying to put all I see and feel into my writing. If this sounds weird, I must be doing something right. My ultimate goal is to be happy and at peace in this moment, all I have is right now and I choose to be happy.

... a road map for men (and women) who are in the midst of the confusion, hurt and pain .... Michael ... like a good friend, there to share his experience, to help you find some sense of direction in unknown and uncharted territory. I highly recommend this book to anyone embarking on their own such journey. -- Susan Sterling, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist

Society, our courts and general consensus grant little credit to most men's deep conviction of the sanctity of marriage and the likely trauma of divorce. Michael's book nails the emotional hurricane .... This book may be one man's experience, yet simultaneously it represents the journey of millions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big Let Down 3 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I really thought the book by the desciption and title would e a really big help after a terrible year and continual difficult time!!
The book is a bit self wallowing and does nothing to actually help anybody else - it doesn't really talk about the emotions in depth but just describes experiences.

I really wish I hadn;t bought it, hadn't read it or even got the time to give a review.

Apologies I just want to be honest!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that helped me get through this year 19 Nov 2009
By R. Bingham - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
2009 has been rough for me. This book has helped me get through as I experienced the end of my ten year marriage. While I know there are support groups for men, I have preferred to go through this alone and have chosen to go inward instead. But books like this one have helped the healing. What I appreciate the most was that this author shares his own story--right from the painful beginning to adapting to reaching a peaceful and optimistic ending. Knowing someone else has gotten to the other side of this has brought me a great deal of relief.

The advice the author gives about working out custody and dating was sound and wise advice I took to heart. I was torn apart by what to do when it came to custody, but the advice the author gave about staying reasonable and handling the situation as calmly and peacefully as possible was just amazing.

Another book I would recommend is Dating After Divorce - How to Meet New Women, Start a Sexual Relationship, and Have Fun Again....

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book for a man considering divorce 4 April 2011
By Solid Gent - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a personal account of one man's divorce journey. The good, the bad, and the downright ugly. The only thing that the author does not cover is dealing with children in divorce, since he did not have any.

The one tip I am going to take from this is to refer to myself as "resingled." Divorced implies a mistake or a failure. To become "resingled" is to admit error, but make the best of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Word for word 31 Jan 2011
By Carlton - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to any man who feels like the world is crashing after the word divorce is brought up. Instead of being like your friends, this book talks right to your emotions. It says the things that you've only told yourself. I finished the book in one day with the feeling of wanting it to continue. Like I had a carbon copy of myself that was right there beside me, agreeing to my anger and making me feel as if it's ok to feel the way I did. An absolutely must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh perspective, a must read, with a great ending. 9 Oct 2008
By Mr. Dean K. Olson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A fresh perspective, a must read, with a great ending. In "A Man's Feelings," Eads takes you through key turning points of his life, stressing the crucial importance of closure and sharing on how he dealt with loneliness and the stigma that goes with divorce. He shows how one can overcome such tragedy, coming out of it, a new person--much wiser and better off.

So what does a person do after divorce? What about dating and finding true love? This book comes from the heart, is enlightening and brings entertainment that touches the soul.

Written from his experiences, with vividness and emotion, "A Man's Feelings" is certainly a rare gem, proving, without a doubt, good things happen to those who persevere.

Regardless of whether you or someone you know are going through a divorce, I highly recommend reading "A Man's Feelings."

5.0 out of 5 stars An Man's Feelings...It's more than that. 8 Oct 2008
By S. Martin - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
To date, I have read Michael Eads book twice and have found new and different points of resonance each time. Society, our courts and general consensus grant little credit to most men's deep conviction of the sanctity of marriage and the likely trauma of divorce. Michael's book nails the emotional hurricane people experience and subsequently stands as a guide and proclamation of hope toward a calmer, fulfilling future. This book may be one man's experience, yet simultaneously it represents the journey of millions, in less than 200 pages. Mike, my sincere appreciation to you.
