Self-affirming 19 Nov. 2006
By M.E.R. - Published on
Format: Paperback
I set out to do research on the dynamic between American politics and contemporary culture and the arts, and this book affirmed my perceptions about society today. Lodziak presents the current American condition the way it is, whether we like it or not. There are problems with capitalism that deserve to be questioned, not ignored or accepted. He brings in many other voices to support his views, which provide provocative evidence. While I agree with his portrait of today's world, his suggestions for improvement in the future seem considerably less substantial or rewarding than his intelligent discourse on our conditions. However, I still recommend this book to anyone who is skeptical about capitalism; you are not alone.
